Notes from the GOP campaign trails

There hasn’t been much humor on the campaign trails since Marco Rubio called Hillary Clinton, “yesterday,” but John Kasich, who isn’t an official candidate, got in a good one during a Washington Post interview.  He said he’s never listened to Jeb Bush and didn’t know what is meant by Bush’s theme.  What’s “Right to Rise,” getting up in the morning?

Carly Fiorina is getting a lot of press lately.  Answering dozens of questions outside a location where Hillary Clinton was speaking was a smart idea. And did you hear what she did to silence Seth Myers and Chuck Todd?  After they blasted her for failing to register CarlyFiorina.org, she turned around and bought SethMyers.org and ChuckTodd.org with both of them redirecting viewers to CarlyforPresident.com.

On the serious side, candidate Rick Santorum commented on our stumbling from behind policy in the Middle East with this: “We’re fighting a politically correct war.  We’re fighting a public relations war.  We’re not really fighting to win that war. And when you don’t fight to win against someone who wants to win, you’re not going to win. We’re going to lose.”

Rand Paul revealed his weak position on foreign policy when he blamed GOP hawkish candidates for the progress of ISIS, criticizing them for the indiscriminate supply of arms in the Middle East. Then, after Ted Cruz praised Paul’s “passionate defense of liberty,” Paul’s PAC called Cruz a “Capitulating Canadian.”

I’m thinking about starting a PAC – Pull the Plug on Paul.
