Sen. Ted Cruz may have won the Iowa caucus, but it was Sen. Marco Rubio who got the bump going into New Hampshire with his third place Iowa finish, putting him in second place there behind Donald Trump.

Rubio has the best shot of beating a Democrat candidate in the general election, according to a Quinnipiac University National Poll released today. In addition, Rubio has picked up endorsements from Senators Tim Scott (R-SC), Pat Toomey (R-PA), Cory Gardner (R-CO) and former senator Rick Santorum, a number of members of the House, and most recently, Gov. Bobby Jindal.

All of this has caused Cruz, and Gov. Chris Christie to attack Rubio. They say they are not coordinating the effort, but it’s no secret Rubio stands in their way of finishing strong in New Hampshire. The New Hampshire Union-Leader has endorsed Christie, but some of us recall that it endorsed Newt Gingrich in 2011. Of course, Gov. Jeb Bush has been attacking Rubio from the beginning.

Gov. John Kasich has not been one to bad-mouth another candidate, but like Christie, he has put all of his campaign effort on the line in New Hampshire, and presumably would not like to see Rubio continue to do well there. I understand Cruz, Christie and Kasich will all appear on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace.

Carly Fiorina, still campaigning hard, is now in a battle with ABC News to allow her to appear on the next debate stage.
