Obama in denial

“But what I’m not going to do is validate some notion that the Republican crackup that’s been taking place is a consequence of action that I’ve taken.” – President Obama

President Obama smiles as he stumbles through his response to a question whether he should accept some of the blame for voter anger. (nytimes.com)

It was classic Obama, standing in the Rose Garden with visiting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, struggling for words without his usual teleprompter crutch. He was in full denial that it was his seven years of feckless governance that triggered voter anger. Click here if you want to experience it.

“I’ve been blamed by Republicans for a lot of things, but being blamed for their primaries and who they’re selecting for their party is novel,” he said.

Republican voters are mad as hell at their members of Congress because of their inability to deal with a divider president, his executive order pen and his veto pen despite their majority. Did they really think they had any opportunity to make real change, like repealing ObamaCare, with its author holding the veto pen?

Responsible for the birth of the Tea Party movement, the president now pleads blameless for the current shift of the political winds. It’s ludicrous. Many Americans, believing they can no longer support the president or Congress, seem to have decided they want an outsider as their president.

To that I say, remember the saying, be careful what you wish for.
