With Obama, social programs trump military issues

For some reason, Fridays are slow news days, but I couldn’t help but notice a kind of incongruence in issues in one of yesterday’s news reports.

Keeping F-16’s flying has become difficult due to parts shortages. (dvidshub.net)

First was a disturbing report on our how our military aviators in all of the services flying bombers, fighters and helicopters – supposedly our front-line weapons systems – are experiencing serious parts issues. The Air Force is cannibalizing B-1 and F-16 parts from other aircraft, even those in museums and on static display. Just nine of 20 B-1 bombers were flyable at one installation, while less than half of the F-16 were mission-ready at another.

A side issue citing the tiring of air and ground crews due to multiple deployments was coupled with a report that the Army is nearing its lowest level of warriors in its history.

No comment from the White House.

Overshadowing that news was the announcement from the White House that the Obama administration has directed schools to “allow transgender students to use bathrooms and locker rooms consistent with their gender identity.” The order must be upheld “even if students, parents or community members raise objections or concerns.” Schools face a threat of the loss of federal funds if they do not comply.

With that,  it’s easy to see where Obama’s priorities lie. PC and social justice over military strength.

We are often exposed to coverage of the president presenting a Medal of Honor to a brave military warrior or the first lady involved in a military family event, but don’t be fooled by these photo ops. His distaste for the military is obvious. Beginning with the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” Obama hasn’t missed an opportunity to use the military services for social experimentation.
