My views on the news

Here is a roundup of items in the news that you may not heard about with my comments included for your consideration.

flag-1AMONG THE SAD STORIES OF FLAG BURNING comes a refreshing story provided to me by a dear friend. On 6.65 acres of land near Vandenberg AFB, California, a flag made by planting some two million flowers graces the land. Designed to proper dimensions of the stars and stripes, it is 740 feet by 390 feet in size.

ANOTHER LEFTIST PROFESSOR – Hardly a day goes by that we don’t hear about another liberal college professor trying to fill the minds of our young men and women with mush. You’ve heard how some professors at a few of our top universities used various means to accommodate students who were depressed with Hillary’s losing, but here’s a story you may have missed.

A psychology professor at Orange Coast College in (you guessed it) California, told her class that the election of Donald Trump was “an act of terrorism.”  She went on to say, “One of the most frightening things for me, and most people in my life, is that the people committing the assault are among us. It is not some stranger from some other country coming in and attacking our sense of what it means to be an American and the things that we stand for. And that makes it more painful.” She went on to say that “our nation is divided, clearly as it was in Civil War times.”

She shamed and insulted students and families who voted for Trump.

ON THE SUBJECT OF COLLEGES – Students and parents, who worked diligently to pay off student debts, are outraged over the government’s plan to forgive some $100 billion in coming years under a scheme that will set payments as a share of the borrower’s earnings and eventually forgive a portion of their balances. Obama’s big government in action to pump up his legacy.

MORE GREAT CABINET SELECTIONS – Though bound to face a tough hearing, Rex Tillerson is an excellent selection for secretary of state. Former Texas Governor Rick Perry, who once ran for president with the goal of killing the Energy Department, has been picked to head that agency. Maybe he will help eliminate it from inside. Another pick from Goldman Sachs, the financial institution that solidly supported Hillary Clinton, is Gary Cohn, who will head the National Economic Council.

A VOICE ON THE LEFT SENTENCED – As you may know, Fox News makes an effort to give Democrats a voice on its network. I developed a strong dislike for Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-PA), who appeared fairly regularly on Neil Cavuto’s business show, because his views were so off the wall. I was happy to learn that he was sentenced to 10 years in prison on his conviction of racketeering, fraud and money-laundering. TA DAH! CHAKA!

SPENDING THE GREEN PARTY’S GREEN – Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein spent $3.5 million dollars for a recount in Wisconsin that netted an additional 131 votes for Trump. The courts have nixed recounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

LOOK FOR TRUMP TO FOLLOW THROUGH with his pledge to help restore life in minority communities in cities like Detroit. He met Tuesday morning with former Cleveland Browns standout Jim Brown and former Baltimore Ravens star Ray Lewis to discuss Brown’s Amer-I-Can program to turn gang members into productive members of society. And he named Dr. Ben Carson, who grew up in Detroit, to head up Housing and Urban Development.  “What have you got to lose?” Trump asked black voters to consider. He received more black votes than Mitt Romney while Hillary Clinton received fewer black votes than Barack Obama.
