Obama’s future, Hollywood deniers, a new U.S. role in Israel and the electric car scam

I hope my brief comments on items in the news are helpful to you with your busy schedule.

HAVE YOU HEARD that President Obama has said he will participate in the effort to rebuild the Democrat Party after he leaves office. After taking a swipe at party members he calls “latte sipping liberals,” he said the party needs to concentrate on the concerns of working-class Americans. Always a day late and a dollar short. Who does he think helped put Donald Trump in office?

SEVERAL HOLLYWOOD TRUMP DENIERS have invested a half-million dollars in an ad campaign to pressure Republican members of the Electoral College to vote against Trump on Monday. Left-leaning Martin Sheen (“The West Wing), Debra Messsing (Will and Grace) and Mike Farrell (M.A.S.H) say Donald Trump is unfit for the presidency. Weren’t they all going to move to Canada or some remote island if Trump won?

RUMORS ABOUND that there will be anti-Trump demonstrations during inaugural proceedings in Washington DC on Jan. 20, 2017 and that there will be constant disruptions during Trump’s first 100 days and more.

EXPECT SENATORS MC CAIN AND GRAHAM to give secretary of state nominee Rex Tillerson a grilling at his senate confirmation, but to confirm him in the end.  Trump’s staff is using former Secretaries of State Jim Baker and Condoleezza Rice and former Defense Secretary Bob Gates to help seal the deal.

LOOK FOR A CHANGE IN THE U.S. ROLE IN ISRAEL – Trump has nominated his longtime friend and lawyer David Freidman to be his Ambassador to Israel. Freidman has indicated the U.S. should abandon its decades-long policy of establishing a Palestinian state and move our embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a sharp departure from a longstanding U.S. policy. Trump’s selection must be a good one, because Peace Now, a group promoting a two-state solution, considers it a bad sign.

IN A LETTER TO THE EDITOR of the Wall Street Journal, a San Francisco lefty challenged Arthur D. Little’s claim that an electric car will cost its owner $20,816 more to own and operate over its life cycle than a comparable gas-powered car. The writer boasted that he leases a Ford Focus for $80 a month … California sent him a check for $2,500 … he received a free charger (a $1,000 value) … and he charges off the grid at .09 cents per kilowatt-hour. Just who does he thinks pays for the tax credit and the “freebees?” I for one object to paying for the tax credits, power stations and other “free stuff” so an elite greenie can own a Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf or a Tesla Model 3.

ON TRUMP’S “THANK YOU” TOUR the president elect is making it a point to stick it to liberals and the PC crowd, who want to destroy religious liberties, by repeatedly saying “Merry Christmas” and “God Bless America.”
