Follow-Ups to My Previous Commentaries

Commentary

Regular readers may recall my November 2, 2023 commentary on news follow- ups.  We often read a story and later wonder what happened, what was the outcome.  Here are a few follow ups that may interest you.

A FOLLOW-UP – From time to time I quote from the Letters to the Editor column in the Wall Street Journal when their readers comment on a subject I wrote about here. … read more

2024 Presidential Election Report No. 4

Commentary

The Polls

“While it’s true that national polling doesn’t tell us much because we don’t elect a president with a national popular vote,” writes Matt Margolis of PJ Media, “it can still give us some hints about how the political winds are shifting.”

Margolis quoting Moody’s Analytics :

“They predict Biden will hold Georgia and Nevada despite polls consistently showing Trump leading in those states.”read more

An Unusual View of Trump by a Leftist Columnist

Commentary

I recall my delight, in 2017, when I read that Bret Stephens was leaving the Wall Street Journal for the New York Times.  It was a natural move for someone with leftist opinions on politics, which he also shares with viewers of MSBNC and NBC. Still, the opinions of the Journal’s editorial board, cannot always be counted on to be conservative.… read more

How Taxpayers are Funding Research Supporting the Administration’s Agenda in Climate Change and DEI

Commentary

Years ago, when concern for global warming began to heat up – pardon the pun – and climate change became part of the terminology, I recall writing about the plethora of studies coming out of our universities and think tanks that supported the government’s environmental agenda.

The U.S. has funneled billions, yes, billions, to the United Nations to fund the work of the International Panel on Climate Change, where funds go to hundreds of climate scientists in the development of their annual report, designed to scare the hell out of us.… read more

Busted! State Department Caught Using Taxpayer Funds to Support Soros Foundation

Commentary

In establishment Washington, a Biden administration gift of $12 million in taxpayer funds to a nonprofit organization doesn’t even make the news. If it wasn’t for my membership in Judicial Watch, I wouldn’t have heard about it.

Is it any wonder in this era when Congress passes billion-dollar bills without knowledge of what they are approving as we foresee a $1.4 trillion deficit this year? … read more

Unwhittingly, Jane Fonda Accuses the Biden Administration of Racism

Commentary

If anybody told me that I would one day be quoting Jane Fonda in my blog, I would have said they were ready for the looney bin, but her latest rant was just too good to pass up.

Fonda, now 85, made news this week when she blamed the climate crisis on racism during an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”read more

Biden Shaping Future Military Leadership a Scary Proposition

Commentary

Since authoring my blog piece, “Watching the Deterioration of Our Military on President Biden’s Watch,” October 27, 2022, sadly, my concern for the lives of our service men and women has worsened, while our readiness is highly questionable.

While several military items have landed on my stack of stuff, it was this week’s  Wall Street Journal story, “President Weighs Joint Chiefs of Staff Pick,” that triggered my decision to do a follow up.… read more

Filling the Vacuum Again Left by Lazy Journalists

Commentary

Former President Trump is in the news and again charging fake news with reporting what he said with “more disinformation and lies.”  Writing in Truth Social last Saturday, he suggested “the termination of all rules … even those found in the Constitution,” as he again returned to voter fraud.

It comes less than a month after his announced plan to again run for the presidency in 2024. … read more

Misconceptions vs Reality in Recent Poll of Americans

Commentary

For some time now, I’ve noticed that more advertisers of a wide-variety of products and services were producing commercials and print ads featuring blacks and Latinos.

It reminded me of the times in my communications career in the aerospace industry when I was asked by human resources to produce a brochure or slide program. … read more

Our Country Loses When Biden Tries to Pick a Winner

Commentary

This is the story of gullible low information voters and weak-kneed automobile manufacturers who have allowed our fossil fuel energy independence to be abandoned to make a transition to renewable fuels with the fantasy of altering climate change.

During Joe Biden’s campaign, there were a number of opportunities for voters to see how he had been convinced by the radical progressives on the left that global warming and climate change needed to be priority number one.… read more
