He’s baaaaaack. Speaking at a lectern with a placard bearing the words “Save America,” he may not have made any news during his visit to Wellington, Ohio last week, but former President Trump was in campaign form.
Settling in, he looked out over the appreciative crowd, and said, “Look at that. Look at that. Do you miss me? They miss me. They miss me.” It was pure Trump.
The media billed the rally as a “revenge tour,” during which the former president will campaign for those candidates running against those who are not true patriotic Republicans. In Ohio, he supported the candidacy of Max Miller, who is running to unseat RINO Anthony Gonzales. He credited Miller with helping him as an assistant during his presidency.
Trump spoke of honoring Gonzales’ requests to fly on Air Force One on trips to Ohio, and then noticed he voted to impeach him. Gonzales also voted to provide amnesty to illegals, and was censured by the Ohio GOP.
In addition to Miller, he introduced “GOP fighters” Representatives Jim Jordan and often maligned Marjorie Taylor Greene and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem. He also introduced and credited the support of Mike Lindell, the “pillow man.”
Early in his remarks he said, “we will be talking about 2020, unless you don’t want to talk about it.” You just knew he would.
Interspersed throughout his speech he talked about 2020. The use of Covid-19 to introduce mass mailing of ballots to those who didn’t request them, the extending voting periods, the late ballot counts, the audits, and other irregularities. He gave credit to Wisconsin and Pennsylvania for their efforts to clean up elections, and the senate audit effort in Arizona.
He spoke of friends who encouraged him not to look back at the 2020 election – the stolen election, rigged election – but insists it is necessary to ensure we have integrity in the vote in 2022 and 2024.
Clearly, he was not pleased with the effort to instill critical race theory in our schools, and the military, while he continued to support the teaching of our patriotic past and the love of our flag.
Much of his speech was a review of his accomplishments and how Biden has set us back by revoking his policies.
We can expect Trump to tease voters on his plan to run in 2024. While he does, wannabe presidential candidates will keep their powder dry, waiting for the right moment.
Shouts of “four more years … four more years” frequently echoed across the fairgrounds, though there were no “Trump in 2024” signs, only “Save America” signs, visible as he spoke.
Watching Trump in the Ohio rally, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine him running again in 2024. He was back in form and enjoying himself, slamming Biden and Democrats reversing the control he had established on the border.
Even with a teleprompter, Trump has a way of communicating with the people; something Biden cannot match.
Trump is a closer:
“We will not bend. We will not break. We will not yield. We will never give in. We will never give-up. We will never back down. We will never, ever surrender.
“My fellow Americans, our movement is far from over. In fact, our fight has only just begun. We are one movement, one people, one family, and one glorious nation under God.
“So with American pride swelling in our hearts and American courage stirring our souls, I say these words to you tonight. We will make American powerful again. We will make America wealthy again. We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And we will make America great again.”
On Wednesday, he will be visiting the border in Texas, where illegal crossings of the Rio Grande have broken records as a result of Biden’s campaign encouraging them to come to America.
I expect reporters will hear his view of Vice President Harris’ performance and Biden’s mistake in selecting her to solve the border issue.
FINALLY, PONDER THIS – The Department of Agriculture is proud to be distributing the greatest number of free meals and food stamps ever … to 46 million people. Meanwhile, the National Park Service of the Department of Interior asks park visitors not to feed the animals, because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.
Now, more than ever … may God continue to bless the United States of America.
