Are the Media Beginning to Turn on Biden?

Commentary

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the media as you have probably detected from my recent posts on the media’s complicity with the deep state in helping Joe Biden win in 2020.

In my last post, “From Newsroom Nostalgia to the Truth in Reporting,” I shared with you quotes by columnists from various publications you may not read, because they are primarily from the elite east coast or the Beltway.

After reading my thoughts on the death of journalism, a friend e-mailed me reminiscing about the days of Cronkite and Huntley-Brinkley, who held fort before the birth of 24/7 news. While they, too, had liberal leanings, it wasn’t obvious.  Later, we saw CNN go from being a popular news source become an outlet with bias leftist views.

Today, if you are reading newspapers at all, you are probably reading those close to home, perhaps the Des Moines Register or the Ledger-Enquirer. You can’t get objective reporting from USA Today.

Several of my friends get their news off their iPhones, reading Apple News and other media outlets. I’m shocked to learn how many people get their “news” from social media outlets like TikTok, but when you consider the options, who can be trusted?

Reading the transcript of “America This Week,” journalist Matt Tiabbi’s weekly conversation with novelist Walter Kirn, they suggested that “the future of media now has been reduced to podcasts and maybe a few other things, but a succession of recent news events has obliterated any possibility of widespread audience trust in the traditional news landscape.

“There’s just no way to get information about anything important through the places from which we used to get information,” they added.

As one wonders how long the mainstream media can responsibly – some may say ethically – stay silent on Joe Biden, his campaign and the news of family corruption, we are seeing some breakthroughs.

One such sign came when the words “This poll is just brutal for President Biden,” left the lips of ABC News’ leftist  George Stephanopoulos as he reported on the latest Biden approval rating at 36 percent, and he revealed Biden would lose 49-42 in a hypothetical 2024 matchup with former President Trump.

Even ABC’s political director, Rick Klein, chimed in saying, “It is remarkable.”

Former DNC chair Donna Brazile conceded a loss of sleep – “It kept me up” – when the poll came out, suggesting Biden and his team had failed to connect with voters. “They are still unable to get a real good, strong message to the American people, not just on the accomplishments, but where they want to take the country.”

Actually, it’s quite clear.  There have been no accomplishments and we can see where they are taking the country with its primary agenda selling the climate crisis while taking us down a premature road to go all electric.

MSNBC has gotten there yet.  During an interview with Stephanie Ruhle, Biden was asked how an 80-year-old president “deserves to continue holding the job.”

“Because I have acquired a hell of a lot of wisdom,” he responded, “and I’m more experienced  than anybody that’s ever run for the office.”

If ever there was an opening for Ruhle, she fumbled it by not following up with Biden’s claim that “I’ve proven myself to be honorable as well as also effective,”

It was Biden’s rebuffing of a staffer, who wanted to end the interview, that enabled Ruhle to ask about his son, Hunter.

Claiming an audio difficulty, Ruhle asked, “Can I ask you that again?  You don’t have to answer. If I may.

“Sir, there is something personal that’s affecting you.  Your son – while there’s no ties to you, could be charged by your Department of Justice.  How will that impact your presidency?” she followed.  To which he responded, “My son has done nothing wrong. I trust him.  It impacts my presidency by making me feel proud of him.”

Commenting on Biden – “he’s too old, he’s too slow (and) “there comes a point where you just can’t spin something anymore” –  in his column Monday, “The Limits of Elite Media,”  Ben Domenech adds “there’s too much proof that what you’re saying simply isn’t true.”

Domenech recalled how Biden was once hailed by CNN as someone who “would inspire our friends and shake our foes,” (but) people can see that just hasn’t happened.”

Incidentally, Fox’s Bret Baier noted recently that he has repeatedly contacted the White House in an effort to gain an interview with the president, without success.  Could it be that they recognize that Baier does not play softball?

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
