Year Early ‘October Surprises’ Broadly Hit Biden Campaign

Commentary

Normally, an “October Surprise” is an event designed by the opposition to disrupt a campaign the month before an election, however, President Biden’s campaign was the recipient of several events this month, a year early, that reflect poorly not only on his character but his leadership.

If the left thought that the disarray in the House selecting a new speaker would slow down the investigation of Biden corruption, they were wrong.

Through the work of Kentucky Rep. James Comer and his House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, a personal check in the amount of $200,000 to the president from his brother James’ personal bank account was released for public transparency.

In my October 29, 2023 post, I referred to Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley’s effort to uncover actions in Biden’s Justice Department that swept under the rug numerous findings of Biden family corruption to avoid investigation.

Newly elected speaker, Mike Johnson, made it known that the key investigations into the Biden family corruption will continue while other important issues are addressed.

Turning to Israel and the Middle East

President Biden could not find time in the last nine months between his trips to Delaware to visit Palestine, Ohio to comfort residents unsettled by the train derailment, but within days after Hamas when on its October 7, 2023 killing spree at a peaceful music fest, he was persuaded to travel to Israel.  No doubt by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is Jewish.

When a malfunctioning Hamas rocket landed in a hospital parking lot, President Biden cowardly chose not to correct Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who blamed Israel for firing the rocket, even after it was proven that it was the misfired Hamas rocket.

Tlaib, born in Detroit, was elected to represent Michigan, not Palestine, in the U. S. House, and needs to be reminded of that by her leadership, President Biden. It isn’t going to come from Democrat leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Similarly, when thousands of paid ill-informed students at colleges and universities across the country protested against Israel in pro-Palestine demonstrations, Biden refused to speak forcefully to them about their mis-directed attacks.  If these students are Biden supporters, as his campaign regularly insist, he could have stopped them.

Biden also refused to call out Iran as the country behind the terrorist activities in Israel, Syria, and Iraq, as if he believed that in doing so, he could keep his hopes for a nuclear deal with Iraq on life support. How foolish.

When his staffers set up a Zoom call for him with family members of hostages being held by Hamas, one wonders if the memory of the criticism he faced by not meeting with the families of the 13 Americans killed at the Kabul Airport in 2021 was behind the decision.

As he now cautions Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu to go slow in his announced goal of dismantling Hamas in Gaza, one needs to remember Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan and his record of foreign policy failures that have already painted him as weak.

That weakness was apparent in Syria and Iraq, where Iranian proxies freely attacked U.S. forces 20 times without an immediate response from America.  Days later, he sent two F-16’s on what was termed as a “narrowly focused” pin prick attack on an Iranian militia facility, believed to be empty.

Despite Biden’s frequent remarks about restoring America’s reputation around the world, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres spoke in opposition to Israel, suggesting that the Hamas attack in which 1,400 people were killed, “did not happen in a vacuum.”

Then, in a direct attack on the U.S., Iran’s foreign minister, speaking at the UN in New York, said, “I say frankly to the American statesmen who are now managing the genocide in Palestine that they will not be spared from this fire.”

Back in the United States

On October 26, 2023, a feature article appeared in the Washington Post covering the secret melt down of the Robert E. Lee statue that once graced Charlottesville, Viginia. In the piece, the two authors seemed to gloat over the event. An accompanying photo shows the face of Lee being cut off with a torch in preparation of being tossed in a 2,250-degree furnace. How embarrassing.

You may ask what makes this an October surprise event damaging Biden?  It surfaced the lie Biden repeats about Trump praising white supremacists in Charlottesville, a lie that has been debunked over and over even by leftist news sources CNN and USA Today.

The American Presidency Project at UC Santa Barbara published a fact check that cleared Trump and called out Biden’s false claims.

White House transcripts reveal that Biden repeated the lie in a campaign reception at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater in New York and twice repeated the lie twice during a single fundraiser held in he living room of a wealthy real estate heiress.

Knowingly repeating this lie is further evidence of his true character.  This man, who likes to insist “it’s not who we are,” and talk about the protecting the soul of America, is a phony.

There you have it.  Not one, but a host of October surprises; all putting President Biden in a bad light. He is the recipient of my November Fool’s Day recognition.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
