Commentary
In a major decision by the Supreme Court, a group of some 600 district court judges, who represented a major threat to the presidency and the Constitution, may no longer bring injunctions against the president’s directives.
It’s a big win for the American people, who elected Donald Trump to fulfill his promises to make America great again. It severs the executive powers role the low-level activist judges essentially assumed as they stymied the president’s ability to carry out the voters’ mandate.
Voters in overwhelming numbers elected Trump, to follow through with promises made during his campaign, not a lowly district judge to prevent him from doing so.
Like the earlier Court ruling on immunity, this decision is key to the ability of future presidents to carry out their policies.
The Court also seems to have paved the way for Trump to go ahead on the birthright issue. He has made it clear that birthright was originally meant for the children of slaves, not for children born to illegals or those here on vacation.
In another decision aligned with Trump’s support of religious beliefs and parental rights, the Court ruled that public schools be required to provide notices to allow parents of children to opt out of certain storybook readings.
Regarding Saboteurs
Meanwhile, another MAGA saboteur has been identified. In an earlier edition, I included bureaucrats in my list of potential saboteurs of President Trump’s effort to make America great again, and low and behold one surfaced in the U. S. Senate.
Elizabeth MacDonough, an unelected bureaucrat, who serves as the Senate Parliamentarian, rejected a provision in the “One Big, Beautiful Bill” championed by President Trump.
In 2012, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid appointed MacDonough, a former advisor to Al Gore. MacDonough struck down a provision banning illegals from stealing Medicaid from American citizens.
As the Senate attempts to work around the ruling, Sen. Tommy Tuberville was quick to identify MacDonough as a creature of the Washington Swamp.
Reportedly, MacDonough has attempted to block 47 other provisions in the bill as it is near final drafting this weekend.
Congressional MAGA Saboteurs
Democrat Senators Chris Van Hollen (MD) and Chris Murphy (CT), frequent voices in opposition to the president’s effort to make America great again, went to the microphones following their briefing on the Iran strike,
Van Hollen suggested the president was “distorting, manipulating and even lying about the intelligence,” adding, “We’ve been here before. We went to war in Iraq over false pretenses.”
Murphy said that it appeared to him that Iran’s nuclear program had been set back only a handful of months, basing his claim on the leaked preliminary assessment.
“The president was deliberately misleading the public when he said the program was obliterated,” Murphy told reporters. “It is certain that there is still significant capability and significant equipment that remain.” He doesn’t know that.
Democrat Sen. Richard Blumenthal (CT) was surprisingly less critical, saying, “it was impossible to determine how badly Iran’s nuclear ambitions had been damaged without more intelligence.”
“Certainly, this mission was successful insofar as it extensively destroyed and perhaps severely damaged and set back the Iranian nuclear arms program,” Blumenthal said.
Virginia Democrat Sen. Tim Kaine, declared, “This is the U.S. jumping into a war of choice at Donald Trump’s urging, without any compelling national security interests for the United States to act this way, particularly with a debate and vote in Congress.”
Was Kaine not aware that Iran was developing an intercontinental ballistic missile with the capability to strike the U.S., the great Satan?
While noting that presidents of both parties have cited language to justify military action without Congressional involvement, the New York Times asked, “Is the U.S. at War With Iran,” is the attack tantamount to a declaration of war and did Trump act illegally?
The U.S. Response
Vice President Vance argued that the president had “clear authority to act to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction,” while Secretary of State Marco Rubio remarked that the strike was a limited action aimed solely at Iran’s nuclear capability and it didn’t meet the definition of war, saying, “This is not a war against Iran.”
It was a bad week for anti-Trumpers …a successful strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities … greeted openly at the NATO conference by member leaders … the Supreme Court clears the way for Trump as district judges are put in their place … conducts an hour-long plus press briefing, answering questions on a wide range of topics
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
