Commentary
When former President Obama titled his 2006 book, “The Audacity of Hope,” he should have taken note of the dual definition of the word, audacity. He chose it, I’m sure, for its references to boldness and daring, the “I am” individual he is.
During his weekend appearances for Democrat candidates in New York, New Jersey and Virginia, the content of his remarks reflected the definition of audacity I relate to Obama … imprudence, Impertinence and presumption.
In my June 22, 2023 edition, “Thank Goodness, I Have Former President Obama to Kick Around Again,” I wrote how he “now exudes audacious disrespect for a fellow black – Republican Sen. Tim Scott – because his political opinions differ.
While campaigning this weekend, he wasted no time to take a jab at Trump, he said, “Everyday this White House offers up a batch of lawlessness and recklessness and mean-spiritedness and plain craziness.”
This, after DBI Tulsi Gabbard revealed material that proves that Obama and several of his top national security advisors had participated in a deliberate and illegal effort to discredit Trump after is electoral win in 2016.
“The information clearly shows there was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016 committed by officials at the top level of our government to usurp the president from fulfilling the mandate bestowed upon him by the American people, “Gabbard said.
Again, the names of the “usual suspects” surfaced – Clapper, Brennan, McCabe, Kerry. Rice, and Obama himself.
So, if Attorney General Pam Bondi decides to bring criminal charges it will be the “lawlessness” of the Obama administration that will be made public.
Obama’s accusation of lawlessness in the Trump administration reminded me of a charge that “The Obama administration has been the most lawless in U. S. History” in a piece written by Ilya Shapiro for the CATO Institute publication, Commentary.
While space doesn’t permit me to review ten ways Shapiro states how Obama violated the constitution during his presidency, know that his “accusation rests on the 44th president himself as professionally above the law, ignoring the executive branch’s legal limits and disrespecting constitutional bounds like federalism and the separation of powers.”
Incidentally, while Obama was referring to the “plain craziness” of the Trump administration, he was standing with Jay Jones the attorney general candidate in Viginia, who is in the middle of controversy in which Jones wrote of his desire to kill in a violent social media statement.
Speaking of craziness. Although short of an endorsement, Obama praised the campaign of New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, an vowed socialist, who attempts to hide his communistic leanings by calling himself a Democratic socialist.
And what happened to Obama’s concern over the loss of democracy?
By the end of all the reports by TV’s talking heads about Obama’s appearances, I tired quickly of their use of the words “cool,” “polished,” and “swagger” in their commentaries on him. Not one challenged the audacity of his remarks.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
