When I saw that headline I couldn’t help but remember the gratuitous statement made by Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake at the National Action Network gathering held just after the riots.

“If, with the nation watching, three black women at three different levels can’t get justice and healing for this community, you tell me where we’re going to get it in our country,” said the mayor, referring to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, and herself.

On May 26, with the news of 35 homicides in Baltimore- the city’s deadliest month since 1999 – she sent her spokesman to say that she is “disheartened and frustrated by this continuing violence, particularly when you think about the progress that the city has made.”

Progress?

State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby’s comments about bringing the charges against six police officers are considered unethical. (nymag.com)

A few days earlier she was encouraging citizens and the police to give space to those (rioters) who wish to destroy (their city).  And the police dutifully stood by as they were pelted with rocks and businesses were looted and burned.

By now you have heard about the unethical statements made by Mosby when she brought charges against the six police officers involved in the death of Freddie Gray.

Time will tell if Attorney General Loretta Lynch is truly a representative of justice for all. (abcnews.go.com)

The third black woman, Lynch, came to Baltimore and visited with the Gray family, the mayor and police officials.  She has said she is her own person and not a protégé of Eric Holder, but how will she deal with a president, who has blamed the police for excessive force and brutality for the racial unrest across the country?

So, to answer the mayor’s question – if three black women can’t get justice and healing for the city of Baltimore, where does the city turn – I think she ought to begin by restoring faith in the men in blue.
