Don’t sweat the small stuff … the left fails to recognize the threat of illegals … and more on our booming economy

Here are my observations and opinions on selected news of the day.

DON’T GET YOUR KNICKERS IN A TWIST – That’s an old saying, but appropriate for you supporters of President Trump. The mainstream media is bringing in lawyers to tie him to Manafort and Cohen’s pleas because they failed to delegitimize him; encouraging his impeachment didn’t fly; and they have been unable to nail him on Russian collusion. They’re running out of charges.

Of course, CNN has called in Carl Bernstein to repeat his “worse than Watergate” mantra. No, he’s not a lawyer, just a tired journalist, like his former colleague Bob Woodward, struggling to be relevant.

I’m not a lawyer and don’t play one on television, but I’ve learned enough about campaign finance law over the years, including the management of a company political action committee, to be able to tell you that it is quite unlikely that President Trump is in any trouble.

That doesn’t mean the opposition party and the complicit media won’t milk it for all its worth with the midterms approaching. Democrats are using it to get the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court put on ice until after the midterms.

An Aside: As you listen and read about the tax evasion charges of Manafort and Cohen, are you aware that some 300,000 federal employees (including those in the IRS) owed more than $3 billion in back taxes to the IRS according to figures released a few years ago? The IRS conveniently doesn’t update those figures.

With less than 80 days remaining before the midterms, expect the Democrats to pull out the stops to place the indiscretions of Manafort and Cohen, and their association with Donald Trump, at the feet of Republican candidates for office. Don’t go weak-kneed now. Vote for the Republicans who will support our president.

As we used to say in the military, Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.  You correctly helped Trump win the presidency because he made promises to Make America Great Again, and he is keeping those promises.

DID YOU NOTICE how the Democrats and the leftist media poo-poohed the murder of Mollie Tibbetts in Iowa?   Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), appearing on CNN, chose to talk about the family separation issue at the border. “I don’t think mamas and babies are the places we should be spending our resources. Separating a mama from a baby does not make this country safer.”

While acknowledging the Tibbetts death, Warren stated that we need an immigration system “that focuses on where real problems are.”

CNN, in still another example of fake news, failed to report that the accused murderer of Mollie Tibbetts was an illegal alien. Doing so would have been an acknowledgment that the president is correct in focusing on illegals who are criminally involved here, and the need for ICE to pursue and remove them.

Then there was the black Fordham University professor, Christina Greer, who while appearing on MSNBC, casually referred to Tibbetts as “just a girl in Iowa” during a panel discussion. Several hours later, in response to a backlash, clumsily tried to walk back her comment by referring to our “discriminatory immigration policy” while misspelling Mollie’s name … Tibbets. An insincere apology if there ever was one.

“Why are liberal mainstream media figures afraid to tell Americans all the facts about who enters our country?” asks Mark Tapscott in LifeZette in an account of five heinous acts committed recently by criminals who have been residing illegally in the United States.

SUE CHANG, writing in MarketWatch, reporting on the new record for the longest bull market in history says, “things could get even more awesome for the market as it heads into what may be shaping up to be a very bullish season … one that may soon silence the critics.”

IN REAL CLEAR POLITICS, Steve Cortes tells the tale of two Americans … the concerns of Mainstream Media vs those of Main Street USA. “Far from New York newsrooms and the Georgetown salons of Washington lobbyists, Americans grasp the reality of a stronger and more prosperous country.” In Main Street USA, home equity just hit an all-time high, economic growth is faster and broader than it has been in years, reports Cortes, and small businesses are reporting historic levels of confidence.

May God bless the United States of America.
