Petty Pelosi … a look back at her pledge … your flight is cancelled, Nancy … Senator Klobuchar running? … leaks in business, too …. the Gillette commercial … Kasich to CNN … MSNBC’s Wallace in denial … McCaskill to MSNBC … and oh, oh Steny

Here are my observations and opinions on my selected news of the day.

THE MOVE BY SPEAKER Nancy Pelosi to disinvite President Trump from giving his State of the Union address was not only petty and a break in tradition, it shows how unhinged the new radical Democrat Party has moved.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Neilsen rebuked Pelosi’s feeble excuse that it was a matter of security in view of the government shutdown, while saying that the Secret Service has been making preparations for months and foresee no manning issues. And former Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) pointed out that the Capitol Police force is fully funded.

What it all comes down to is that Pelosi, who visibly displays a disdain for the president, in actuality fears that the address gives him a high-profile opportunity to chastise the obstruction of the opposition while making his case for border security to the American public.

What a difference two weeks makes in Pelosi’s world. Here are a few excerpts from her acceptance speech on January 3, 2019:

“Thank you, Leader McCarthy. I look forward to working with you in a bipartisan way for the good of the country, respecting the constituents who sent each of us here.

“We enter this new Congress with a sense of great hope and confidence for the future, and deep humility and prayerfulness in the face of challenges ahead.

“Our nation is at an historic moment. Two months ago, the American people spoke, and demanded a new dawn.

“And I pledge that this Congress will be transparent, bipartisan and unifying; that we will reach across the aisle in this chamber and across the divisions in this nation.”

By now, you are aware that Pelosi has failed to negotiate in good faith with the president on two occasions and has discouraged Democrats from accepting his invitations to discuss border security.

Let’s see … “transparent, bipartisan, unifying” and a “new dawn.”

President Trump has a number of options for declaring the State of the Union. First, it could be submitted in writing. For obvious reasons, don’t look for the president to take that option.

Pelosi suggested he use the Oval Office. Others have suggested the Senate Chamber though space there is limited. A caller to the Rush Limbaugh radio show suggested a major arena. Somewhere in flyover country, perhaps? We must keep in mind that while the address is broadcast for interested Americans, it is primarily a report to Congress.

Stay tuned.

YOU’RE WRONG, LINDSAY – Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) referred to the president’s cancellation of an airplane for Nancy Pelosi and her 40 plus entourage to visit Brussels, Egypt and Afghanistan as sophomoric. Pelosi needs to know she is not in charge.

SEN. AMY KLOBUCHAR (D-MN) may be getting close to committing to a run for president in 2020. She says that her family is on board, but she’s charting her own course despite the recent announcements of other candidates.

Just after the midterms, The New York Times noted that although she has been described as “Minnesota nice” in public settings, she had one of the highest staff turnover rates in the Senate.

An index of past Klobuchar staff shows that since she was first elected to the Senate in 2006, around 200 individuals who have worked in her offices have departed, resulting in Klobuchar making the list of “Worst Bosses” in Congress last year.

Of course, some people leave members of Congress who have a reputation for being hard to work for, too demanding and having shady ethics, but others leave for better pay and positions.

NOT ALL LEAKS ARE IN GOVERNMENT – Peter Lloyd, writing @Suffragentleman says, “According to insiders, a (female) vice president of Proctor & Gamble recently told a 100-strong meeting: ‘I will never promote a straight, white man again.’” Hmmm.

WHICH REMINDS ME OF GILLETTE, a Proctor & Gamble company, who recently introduced an advertisement that has caused a bit of a stir over masculinity.

“Rather than boast of their product’s attributes, encourage brand loyalty, instill warm feelings for buyers, or even show basic respect for consumers,” commented DC Larson in American Thinker. “Instead, the grimly lecturing spot declares masculinity itself toxic, a peril to decent society.”

The commercial, which depicts wrongdoing by males, was created at Grey Advertising by … wait for it … radical feminist, Kim Gehrig

I found the comment by Fox’s Greg Gutfeld quite interesting: “The only ones lauding the Gillette ad work in media /advertising. Everyone else sees it for what it is: a smarmy, condescending virtue signal aimed at the hardworking decent men they have been price-gouging for years.”

Coincidentally, an ad by Harry’s, an upstart in the razor blade business I heard on radio yesterday, made reference to the high-priced blades on the market. I agree.

A long-time Gillette user, I plan to switch brands when my current supply is gone.

KISS OF DEATH – John Kasich, who I once thought was a worthy candidate for president, has been talking about running again in 2020, presumably against President Trump. In the meantime, word is that he has signed on at CNN.

MSNBC’S NICOLLE WALLACE claimed that “there isn’t a strain of racism on the left” on Tuesday. Wallace, a former communications director for President George W. Bush and political advisor for John McCain’s presidential run, it appears, has become a leftist denier since joining MSNBC.

She apparently hasn’t heard the racist comments made by Al Sharpton, contributor Jason Johnson and colleague Chris Hayes.

SPEAKING OF MSNBC, have you heard that the network has signed former Missouri Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill to be an analyst? As she saw her political career coming to an end during the midterms, McCaskill was critical of Americans who stayed in “a bubble” where they could get affirmative information. They knew that CNN and MSNBC wouldn’t give them what they wanted to hear.

“If we can’t even agree on what the facts are, how can we agree on anything?” she asked. She promised to bring “Midwestern common sense’ to the microphone and not “hold back.” We’ll see if MSNBC will allow her to do that.

THERE GOES STENY’S PARKING PASS – While being interviewed by Fox’s Bret Baier about border security Wednesday, Democrat Majority Leader Steny Hoyer – Pelosi’s right-hand man – admitted that a wall or barrier is not immoral as Pelosi has repeatedly stated.

May God bless the United States of America.
