If you didn’t see the coverage of Rep. Tom Marino (R-PA) taking on former house speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on the House floor Friday night, you can see it here.
He reminded her of the Democrat Party’s failed leadership in addressing immigration reform when, in 2009 and 2010, they had the House, Senate and the White House.
You will recall that minorities expected President Obama to keep his campaign promise to make immigration reform his “top priority” during the first year of his term. He put his flawed health care bill ahead of the wishes of Hispanics. Nearly six years later, he now blames Republicans.
Pelosi quickly high-tailed it across the aisle to scold Marino. In typical liberal form, Pelosi stooped to name-calling, referring to Marino as an “insignificant person.” Pelosi’s spokesperson Evangeline George later responded that Democrats did pass the Dream Act; then incorrectly indicated “ the American people want bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform.”
Although George added that Pelosi had accepted Marino’s apology, Marino’s Chief of Staff Bill Tighe denied that Marino had apologized and said Marino did not intend to as he has nothing to apologize for.
Don’t hold your breath for Pelosi’s apology, where one is now overdue.
