I can’t remember the last time I watched the evening news of any of the so-called mainstream television networks, ABC, CBS or NBC (including MSNBC). I believe they are all champions of the Obama administration.
I have written about the failure of these networks to cover matters that embarrass the administration, including negative statistics gathered in their own Wall Street Journal/NBC News survey that have not been aired on the NBC Nightly News.
Now we learn that NBC Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams not only lied about being shot down while riding in an Army helicopter in Iraq, but repeated to story several times, including during an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman.
It reminded me of Hillary Clinton’s claim that she had come under sniper fire during a trip to Bosnia in 1996 while she was first lady. She, too, repeated the story several times during interviews.
A video of the trip showed Clinton walking from the plane accompanied by daughter Chelsea and greeted on the tarmac by a young girl in a brief ceremony. She later offered that she had made a mistake, saying that she had a “different memory” about the landing.
Many will also recall that Richard Blumenthal (D-CN) on a number of occasions in 2010 suggested that he served in Vietnam. While defending his representation of his service, he said only, “On a few occasions, I have misspoken about my service and I regret that and take full responsibility, but I will not allow anyone to take a few misplaced words and impugn my record of military service.” He won the seat previously held by Sen. Chris Dodd by a 12-point margin over the Republican opponent Linda McMahon. Are you ready for this? One of his assignments was a seat on the Armed Services Committee.
Hillary Clinton was rewarded with a cabinet position and is about to be anointed as the Democrat presidential candidate.
I wonder how NBC will reward Brian Williams.
