No doubt you have heard the discussion taking place in the media about the contest to draw a cartoon likeness of the prophet Mohammed sponsored in Garland, Texas. Two terrorists (calling them what they are) attempting to disrupt the gathering with AK-47s, were shot and killed by police.
While most people believe that drawing the Prophet is covered by the First Amendment, there are those, including Fox’s Bill O’Reilly, who agree, but say we shouldn’t taunt Muslims by defaming the Prophet.
Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh posed an interesting question on this issue. He pointed out how the media seems to think it’s okay to support homosexuality, gay marriage and women’s rights issues daily in newspapers, on television and radio.
Since everyone knows, he explained, homosexuality and gay marriage are not permitted in Muslim countries, and we all know how they treat women in their countries, why isn’t our daily support of these activities considered taunting? And what about the inordinate coverage of Bruce Jenner? Taunting?
Just something to think about.
