After his misstep during a recent interview with MSNBC’s Chris Mathews during which he said he believed women who abort a child should be punished, Donald Trump proved tonight that he’s still not prepared on key issues.
Appearing on Bill O’Reilly’s show tonight, Trump took a question from a viewer asking what he would do to preserve the sanctity of life. Trump briefly mentioned his evolution from “pro-choice” to “pro-life,” before stating the importance of appointing a Supreme Court justice who favored life.
“So you would get a judge who would overturn Roe v. Wade,” said O’Reilly surprisingly. Trump stumbled. He should have told O’Reilly that was not on his agenda. O’Reilly later repeated his understanding that Trump wanted to overturn Roe v. Wade, but again Trump failed to call O’Reilly on it.
I will be very surprised if Trump’s weak response doesn’t come back to haunt him, probably as soon as tomorrow. It won’t help him with women.
