Kelly responds to insult … those anti-religion Dems … journalism is dead … an interesting juxtaposition … still illegal aliens …transgender indecision

Here are my observations on items in the news.

JOHN KELLY RESPONDED TO AN INSULT appropriately with a colloquial expression of his mother. In case you missed it, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) levelled an insult at the retired general and Gold Star father over his support of President Trump’s decision to rescind the DACA program.

“General Kelly is a hypocrite who is a disgrace to the uniform he used to wear,” said Gutierrez, “He has no honor and should be drummed out of the White House along with the white supremacists and those enabling the president’s actions by ‘just following orders.’”

“As far as the congressman and other irresponsible members of congress are concerned,” responded Kelly, “they have the luxury of saying what they want as they do nothing and have almost no responsibility,” reminding people that they did nothing to help the so-called Dreamers when they had the chance.

“They can call people liars, but it would inappropriate for me to say the same back to them. As my blessed mother used to say, ‘empty barrels make the most noise.”

The do-nothing representative’s record of legislation-introduced is highlighted by the redesignation of post offices in his district to honor Cesar Chavez and Roberto Clemente. Gutierrez easily gets reelected in his Democrat gerrymandered district.

INCIDENTALLY – I’m sure you have heard how the DACA individuals are so patriotic to the United States that they enlisted in the armed services to gain legal status. Not so. I have learned that just 900 of the estimated 800,000 are serving in the military.

FEINSTEIN AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE SENATE – During consideration of Amy Barrett, a respected law professor at Notre Dame, nominated by President Trump for the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) again proved to be an embarrassment to the U. S. Senate.

“Why is it that so many of us on this side (the Democrat left) have this very uncomfortable feeling that – you know – dogma and law are two different things,” Feinstein said, “And I think whatever a religion is, it has its own dogma. The law is totally different. And I think in your case, professor, when you read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you, and that’s a concern when you come to big issues that large numbers of people have fought for years in this country.”

In a letter to Feinstein, Notre Dame President Rev. John I. Jenkins said, “I am one in whose heart ‘dogma lives loudly,’ as it has for centuries in the lives of many Americans, some of whom have given their lives in service to this nation. Indeed, it lived loudly in the hearts of those who founded our nation as one where citizens practice their faith freely and without apology.

“It is chilling to hear from a United States Senator that this might now disqualify someone from service as a federal judge.”

Feinstein suggests that by virtue of being a faithful Catholic, Ms. Barrett would lead her to substitute her personal beliefs for the law.

Questioning by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) reminded Wall Street Journal editorial writers of 1960, when many thought that Jack Kennedy, as president, would be taking orders from the pope, when he asked Barrett if she considered herself an orthodox Catholic.

Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) accused Barrett of having appeared before a hate group to further the Democrat opposition to her nomination.

ANOTHER VIEW OF JOURNALISM – I’ve been writing that I believe, for the most part, journalism is dead. David Burge, who writes @iowahawkblog offers this thought: “Journalism is about covering important stories with a pillow until they stop moving.”

A Hillary love-in. (Courtesy @hale_razor)

AN INTERESTING JUXTAPOSITION@hale_razor published the accompanying photo taken on Hillary’s campaign plane to make a point: “Find a love that looks at you the way the press looks at Hillary.”

Be assured they thought the “entitled one” would soon be president, including NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, at right.

Sad faces at Obama farewell (daily mail.co.uk)

It brought to my mind the photo taken of former President Obama’s staffers looking on with such sadness during his Rose Garden farewell; an interesting juxtaposition.

HAVE YOU HEARD? The Associated Press now refers to illegal aliens as “undocumented citizens.” Ah, the media, still practicing political correctness. While I generally follow the AP Style Book, I will continue to use “illegal aliens.”

BOY DOESN’T THINK HE’S A GIRL AFTER ALL – In a preview of an upcoming segment on “60 Minutes Australia, the mother of a boy who tried to transition to a girl changed his mind, reported Bre Payton in The Federalist. The mother admits she fed him hormones that were prescribed in an effort to help him become a girl, which she says her son wanted for some time.

He felt like he was on the right path to becoming a girl, but then changed his mind, telling his mother, I’m not sure that I am a girl.”

“A 21-year old woman from New Zealand took hormones for several years in an effort to make her body appear more like a man’s,” Payton relates, “but during treatments she became irritable, depressed and attempted suicide. She eventually decided to stop the process and embraces being a woman again.

It’s further evidence that the U. S. Government should not allow sex transitions for individuals in the military. It’s too costly and requires the relaxation of duty requirements.
