Here are my observations on some of the news of the day.
“IT’S BAD ENOUGH for a law enforcement agency to be biased,” wrote Roger Simon in PJ Media Friday, “It’s even worse for it to be biased and incompetent.”
As I wrote in this blog on February 15, 2018, “Believing the FBI,” I was awaiting the FBI’s explanation of its failure to follow a lead about the Florida shooter’s desire to be a “professional school shooter.” “By their own admission, the agency overlooked warnings about the killer that could have saved seventeen students and teachers from mass murder,” according to Simon.
Simon reminds readers of other examples of FBI incompetence, including the bungle of the Boston Marathon bombers. They were interviewed and cleared before losing track of one of them, who travelled to Russia, because of a minor misspelling of the last name.
When four Americans, including an ambassador, were killed by the terrorist attack in Benghazi, it took weeks for the FBI to get there to investigate and secure the site. By that time, CNN, Reuters and The Washington Post had already visited the site, noting that sensitive documents were scattered about. Supposedly there was a bureaucratic squabble between the FBI, DOJ and the Defense Department regarding the trip. The FBI director at the time? None other than Robert Mueller.
Then there’s the FBI interview of Hillary Clinton and her aides by Clinton-biased agents concerning her e-mails, accomplished without a recording or note-taking, and with the interviewees not under oath.
Simon suggests that the FBI has gone rotten, and like fish that rots from the head down, so does the top of the FBI. Florida Governor Rick Scott has called for the resignation of FBI Director Christopher Wray. “The solution isn’t that complicated, but it’s painful,” writes Simon.
There are others who need to go first, and I’m still hopeful that DOJ IG Michael Horowitz’s year-long investigation will call for the removal of at least six FBI employees, who I believe are guilty of criminal malfeasance.
THE FBI SCREWED UP with the Florida Shooter, but it appears that Broward County law enforcement is somewhat to blame for allowing him to go on his school rampage. Reportedly, law enforcement agencies responded to calls at the shooter’s home 39 times over a seven-year period. Couple that information with the knowledge of his flawed character by school authorities and numerous students and I wonder – what good does it do to say something when you see or hear something. The warnings were there, but again, nobody seems to connect the dots.
WHAT WAS THAT? Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced more than a dozen indictments against Russian nationals and entities, charged with attempts to undermine democracy and spread distrust on the U. S. political system.
He said no Americans were knowing participants in the scheme, and there is no evidence it effected the outcome of the election.
He couldn’t possibly know that. We’re told that the Russians purchased social media space to plant election material that was reportedly seen by more than 100 million viewers. Of course, we don’t know if the information swayed any voters.
CARL BERNSTEIN, trying vainly to perpetuate his Watergate notoriety on CNN, continued his effort to keep the Trump-Russia collusion alive. “We are seeing evidence of a conspiracy. Who was witting, unwitting in that conspiracy, we don’t know yet.’
How can someone be “unwittingly” involved in a conspiracy?, people on Twitter wanted to know. “Conspiring by definition implies knowledge of one’s circumstances and an intent to accomplish a certain thing,” wrote James Hasson.
DaveinTexas tweeted, “I’m not trained in law, but I’m pretty sure conspiracy requires intent.”
ARE CNN VIEWERS TIRING OF THE HATE? When compared to last year, the leftist cable network has lost 30 percent of its primetime viewers and 23 percent of its total day viewers, according to Breitbart.
In the total day status, CNN averaged 674,000 viewers, while MSNBC averaged 972,000. Fox News Channel nearly beat out CNN and MSNBC combined with 1,529,000 viewers.
CNN’s combination of fake news and hate fatigue are most likely the cause of the imploding at the network, according to John Nolte. “Even if you agree with CNN’s monstrous worldview and appalling politics, the hate machine’s shrill and sanctimonious presentation is so hysterical, so neurotic, so smug and one-note, it is just not attractive to watch.”
