Here are my observations and opinions on some of the news of the day.
MASOCHISTIC LIBERALS – I simply cannot believe that there are people who are so eager to return control of the U.S. House of Representatives to the Democrats in the midterms that they are willing to return Nancy Pelosi to the speakership.
If they think that they could easily vote to replace her, they are dreaming.
If you thought her belief that the bonuses and tax cuts were “crumbs,” and declared that the Dems would repeal the tax cut if they are successful in the midterms, wait until you hear what she said about the president’s decision to pull out of the summit with Kim Jung Un.
While most thinking people would agree that President Trump set a respectful tone in his letter informing the North Korean president that he is cancelling the planned June 12, 2018 summit in Singapore, Pelosi referred to his letter as “kinda like a valentine,” adding that “(Kim) must be having a giggle fit right there now.”
How immature and unstatesmanlike. She leads an opposition that clearly doesn’t want President Trump to succeed.
Since Kim Jung Un indicated a desire to meet with the president to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, and the subsequent announcement that the pair would meet in Singapore next month, anti-Trumpers and their complicit media have attempted to paint the president as over-confident of success.
Actually, the president was a realist and repeatedly responded with “we’ll see what happens,” and spoke of his willingness to walk away from the talks if Kim Jung Un wasn’t serious.
Unlike President Obama, who badly needed the Iran deal for his ego and legacy, regardless of its flaws, President Trump doesn’t need the agreement with North Korea, which he sees as good for Korea, the region and the world.
With President Trump’s decision, Kim Jung Un should now know that he is not dealing with diplomatic weaklings like Albright, Clinton, Kerry and Obama.
Stay tuned. It appears as though our “inexperienced” president called Kim’s bluff.
NO SURPRISE – As evidence of the chicanery among top level DOJ and FBI officials mount, we now learn that in the current election cycle, they have contributed 83 percent of the total ($192,534) to Democrats. In the 2016, they contributed 87 percent of its total ($950,000) to Democrats.
Is it any wonder why the Obama holdovers in the Deep State are stonewalling efforts by the Trump administration to uncover the corruption in their midst?
WHILE ON THE SUBJECT of uncovering efforts to hide FBI embarrassment, we can thank Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) for his prodding of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to explain why the cost of a table ($70,000) purchased by the disgraced and fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was redacted in a document reviewed by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Certainly, it wasn’t done to protect national security, the reason normally given.
HERE’S AN OMMISSION from the recently announced rules from the National Football League on respecting the national anthem. I’m sure you have heard all of the do’s and don’ts – come out on the field and show respect, stay in the locker room until after the anthem is played, teams (not players) will be fined when players on the field don’t show respect.
I apologize for not being able to give proper credit for this recommendation I heard last night, but someone in the Fox sports stable suggested that players who show no respect after taking the field should not be fined, but not be allowed to play.
BY THE WAY – Having spent some 40 years in business, where management state policies to be followed by employees, I cannot understand why NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the “company” owners cave to their “employees.”
MORE ON CNN – In my May 22, 2018 post, I wrote of my experience sitting in an airline gate area in which CNN was being aired. I suggested that if people watching CNN believe their left-leaning anchors and guests they are not getting the facts.
A friend traveling in Europe e-mailed me that he, too, experienced CNN “fake news” and wondered if that is how Europeans are getting their “news” from the U.S.
May God bless the United States of America.
