Here are my observations and opinions on selected news of the day.
THE TWO FACES OF JIM ACOSTA – By now you should understand that CNN’s Jim Acosta isn’t really interested in accurate reporting of the news. One of the sources of “fake” news, Acosta continues in the role of an anti-Trump activist more than that of a working journalist.
During a White House press briefing last week, he challenged spokeswoman Sarah Sanders to say that that the media was not the enemy, interrupting her and shouting at her as she attempted to respond to his question.
Acosta and his colleagues at CNN – April Ryan, Brian Stelter, David Gergen and Don Lemon – are attempting to build a case for their security. Ryan said Acosta’s “life was in jeopardy as he covered the president’s Tampa rally. Gergen said that blood will be on Trump’s hands if there is violence committed against the mainstream media.
Charlie Kirk, writing @charliekirk11, posted a photo of Acosta smiling and shaking hands with Trump supporters and said, “Hey Acosta, is this the life-threatening situation that you have been describing at the Trump rally? You look to be quite safe. Why are you peddling this fake hate against Donald Trump and his base?”
Breitbart published a photo of Acosta speaking with a grandmotherly woman at the Tampa rally. While she appears to be pointing her finger at him, he appears in no danger. Reportedly, he was signing autographs at the rally. Stranger danger, Jim.
I NEVER AGREE WITH PHIL BOAS, editorial columnist with the Arizona Republic, but today was a “first.” Writing that “Jim Acosta isn’t the enemy of the people, but he is an enemy,” he described how Acosta stormed out of the meeting (press briefing) and postured ad nauseum on his network. He is the self-absorbed, insufferable enemy of legitimate journalism.”
Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket.
THE OBAMA’S WORTH has been reported by Business Insider to be 30 times more than when they entered the White House in 2008. The Obama’s net worth is currently estimated to be $40 million. Aside from his six-figure pension as a former president, he has made millions from speaking engagements and book sales. The Obamas recently signed a lucrative deal with Netflix.
YOU GOTTA HAND IT TO TRUMP – He appears at rally after rally, most recently in Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio, often using the same script, but with local material inserted, he excites the huge crowds often for more than an hour. He covers all of his promises kept and never passes up a chance to show his appreciation for a local campaign worker, law enforcement, first responders and the military. Signs with “Blacks for Trump” and “Women for Trump” are seen throughout the crowds. He’s still campaigning, and offering his endorsement for local candidates.
Saturday night in Lewis Center, Ohio, he was late taking the stage because he chose to meet first with the crowd gathered outside of the venue, unable to get it due to the lack of space. And he says he’s not a politician. A great move, Mr. President.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT in Friday’s unemployment news, the unemployment rate for Hispanics has reached an all-time low and individuals with less than a high school diploma fell to its lowest mark since the stat began in 1992.
RASMUSSEN REPORTS: Today’s Donald Trump approval rating among black voters – 29 percent; This time last year – 15 percent.
And Jeff Cox at CNBC reported that “compensation for workers rose to a nearly 10-year high in the second quarter.”
May God bless the United States of America.
