Hirono and Warren not political idols for young women … Republican women enthusiasm up … Trump contributes pay … Fox viewership tops MSNBC and CNN … those liberal hacks … and Juan Williams in denial

Here are my observations and opinions on selected news of the day.

MORE WOMEN ARE NEEDED IN POLITICS; so it has been said off and on over recent years. We have been told that women typically have more compassion, empathy and a more open and inclusive negotiation style.

While there was criticism of the “old white men” on the Republican side of the Senate Judiciary Committee, the hearing transcript is rife with comments by the four Democrat women that do not reflect compassion and empathy in the questioning of Judge Kavanaugh. And apologizing that his wife, daughters and parents had to sit through the ordeal doesn’t hack it.

Here are two recent quotes by female senators that were simply chalked up as humorous by the media. You know that if one of those “old white men” were to make such a statement like that they would be hung out to dry.

I just want to say to men of this country to just shut up and step up. Do the right thing for a change.” – Sen. Maize Hirono, September 18, 2018

“I’m sick and tired of being told to just sit down and shut up.” – Sen. Elizabeth Warren, October 4. 2018

SPEAKING OF WOMEN – Enthusiasm among Republican women jumped up 12 points, 71 to 83 percent according to an NPR poll, showing an anger over the manner in which Judge Kavanaugh has been treated.

PRESIDENT TRUMP CONTRIBUTED his second quarter salary to the Small Business Administration. He pledged not to take a paycheck as president during his campaign and has donated his salary to a different agency each quarter.

He lost $1 billion in personal wealth since running for the presidency, according to Forbes magazine. You will recall that candidate Trump told voters he didn’t need the job.

INCIDENTALLY, Rasmussen reports that the president’s approval rating hit 50 percent Thursday.

THINKING PEOPLE ARE WATCHING FOX News Channel. Nielsen Media Research has reported that Fox had 5.7 million viewers during the hearing with Judge Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, more than MSNBC (2.9 million) and CNN (2.5 million) combined.

In addition, more viewers (5.7 million) watched Fox than ABC (3.4 million), CBS (3.2 million) and NBC (3.2 million).

Chris Hahn (funnycat.tv)

BUT FOX DISAPPOINTS ME with its selection of individual contributors to present liberal viewpoints in an effort to provide balanced news coverage. In previous posts I have discussed liberal lightweights Marie Harf, Jessica Tarlov, and Richard Fowler.

The frequent appearances by two so-called Democrat strategists, Richard Goldstein and Chris Hahn, however, spurred me to add them to my “Mute” list. They’re hacks who simply spout Democrat talking points.

THEN THERE’S THISFox has also given voice to another liberal, Juan Williams, giving him a co-host role on “The Five,” and frequently adding him to panels for the left’s point of view. His positions on issues are always predictable and pathetic.

Juan Williams (foxnews.com)

A man who suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome, Williams has now published a book challenging the president’s question to blacks, “what the hell do you have to lose?” He criticizes the president (candidate Trump at the time) for uttering those words to an audience in the predominately white community of Dimondale, Michigan in 2016, but ignores the fact that the president continues to say it during his frequent rallies, where the audiences are diverse.

Kirkus book review reports that Williams “feels optimistic about the post-Trump future for civil rights.” In other words, he intends to continue his support of the resistance movement through 2024.

Rather than crediting the president’s role in improving job opportunities for blacks and his many outreach events to black organizations, Williams chooses to label Trump a racist because of his comments about the NFL’s lack of patriotism, and for his remarks directed at the likes of Maxine Waters, Colin Kaepernick and LeBron James, usually following their comments about him.

GUESS WHAT, JUAN: President Trump’s approval among black voters went up to 35 percent from the 23 percent recorded on this day last year.

May God bless the United States of America.
