The opposition media over the top … the facts on illegal killings … Kamala Harris wants to be first woman of color to become president, but … and Ivanka Trump advances women’s causes

Here are my observations and opinions on my selected news of the day.

A BRIEF LOOK BACK at the media response to President Trump’s Oval Office address on the border crisis revealed no surprises. As I wrote in my January 9, 2019 post, the negative coverage began even before the speech.

A few networks even questioned giving the president time to make his case. Carol Roth, writing @caroljsroth tweeted: “This is so bizarre. The networks have been covering every single time Trump sneezes since the moment he announced his candidacy, to the point of exhaustive lunacy. Now, he is doing an official address and there’s a question on whether to air it?

In the hours leading up to the address, CNN’s Alisyn Camerota proclaimed with a smile, “Fact checkers are eating their Wheaties and getting extra rest since they will be working overtime tonight to separate fact from fiction on the border situation.”

“The Democrat theme for the evening was ‘facts, not fear,’” wrote Mollie Hemingway in The Federalist, adding that “many major media also adopted the same theme,” in her piece stating that the “media’s angry response to President Trump’s Oval Office speech comes up short.”

When it came time to back up talk of factual inaccuracies, “the media whiffed,” said Hemingway.

As you might have expected, CNN’s Jim Acosta opened his post address coverage stating that the president’s address “should have come with a Surgeon General’s warning that it was hazardous to the truth.”

Navarro, Cuomo and Cortes (CNN screengrab)

Just when you think CNN’s Ana Navarro couldn’t stoop lower than when she openly ate popcorn during her on-air coverage of the address and the Schumer-Pelosi rebuttal, she followed with a disgusting appearance on CNN’s Cuomo Primetime show the next day.

While Chris Cuomo was interviewing guest Steve Cortes about innocent Americans killed by illegal aliens, Navarro could be seen on split screen rolling her eyes with a smirk while filing her nails. Navarro began interrupting and became loud and obnoxious while shouting over Cortes and Cuomo.

MSNBC continued its hate campaign on Rachel Maddow’s show in which they proudly announced the appearance of the Dem’s socialist darling Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, during which she said, outrageously, “Migrant women and children coming here with nothing but the shirts on their back are acting more American than President Trump.”

JUST THE FACTS PLEASE – During reporting on illegals who kill someone during a DUI accident or shooting, as in the case of the young policeman who was tragically killed on Christmas Eve, we often hear misleading information about the number of such incidents involving illegals.

When you hear that illegal aliens commit fewer crimes than Americans, it’s logical to believe that because in absolute numbers, there are fewer illegals than American citizens. And, no factual information to support one side or the other is available since the federal government does not record crime statistics by aliens vs American citizens.

One fact is clear, however, if an illegal kills an innocent American citizen, we do know that he or she has committed a crime in being here, and that had he or she been deported or jailed on previous charges, the killing could have been prevented.

KAMALA HARRIS, California’s Democrat junior senator, was a prosecutor and a state attorney general, but failed to impress during her questioning of Judge Kavanaugh. Now we learn that she has published a new book that touts her record as a prosecutor, while glossing over numerous instances where her AG office was forced to defend prosecutorial misconduct.

I recall Harris’ attempt to bluff Judge Kavanaugh with a question that she concluded with the warning – “Be sure about your answer, sir.” – as if she had inside information and would nail him if he didn’t answer it honestly.

Everyone watching obviously believed that Harris was about to confront Kavanaugh with evidence that there had been such a potentially problematic conversation Kavanaugh had with another lawyer, wrote Doyle Alexander at the time.

Later, when Harris had the opportunity to do so, it turned out that she didn’t have the goods on him after all.

Harris’ gambit failed. Now she’s attempting to peddle a book that’s missing, as Paul Harvey used to say, “the rest of the story.”

There’s more. Appearing on ABC’s The View, Harris said that the nation is “absolutely” ready for a woman of color to be president of the United States, but was quick to add that “I’m not saying that about myself.” Word is that Harris will announce that she plans to run for president on MLK Day, January 21, 2019.

How opportunistic of her. Woman of color. MLK Day. Get it?

WOMEN IN THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION, let alone the Republican Party, get little attention because the media supports the Democrat agenda that the GOP ignores them. But that’s not true.

Of course, when it come to the president’s daughter, Ivanka, the media simply doesn’t want you to believe she could be playing a key role for women. She’s just a pretty face involved in the fashion world. They didn’t want you to know that she’s also smart and articulate.

Last week we learned that she played a key role in getting a bipartisan package to aid women and fight human trafficking to the president’s desk.

Ivanka championed the Women’s Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment Act and the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act. She also played a pivotal role in building support for the WEEE Act, an international program to help women and women-owned businesses.

While Ivanka Trump was said to have dissolved her fashion line because of her hectic schedule as the president’s advisor, it doesn’t take a political genius to recognize the work of the Democrat controlled media behind the move.

May God bless the United States of America.
