The shootings, next steps … Apology Joe, an embarrassment … Warren’s $85 billion broadband ‘investment’ … the Ohr’s … and a great truth

Here are my observations and opinions on my selected news of the day.

‘WE NEED A NATIONAL CONVERSATION’ is one of the left’s favorite sayings when it comes to dealing with anything. It comes right after ‘We’re better than that,’ and ‘That’s not who we are.’ Appointing a ‘bipartisan commission to study the issue’ nears the top of the list.

What I’m getting to is the latest cry for a ban on so-called assault weapons, more comprehensive background checks, and an improved red flag notification system.

Ban the assault weapon is first on every Democrat’s “to do” list. You can forget the assault weapons ban. Of course, it’s aimed at the AR15 style weapons. That’s not going anywhere. When asked by CNN if gun owners should worry about a Biden administration “is going to come for my guns,” Apology Joe said, “Bingo. You’re right if you have an assault weapon. The fact of the matter is, they should be illegal, period.” Candidate Kamala Harris has also signaled that she would go after assault weapons owners, dealers and manufacturers.

Expanding background checks sounds great, but as I wrote earlier, the information held by the FBI is only as good as the information provided by the military and other agencies. The shooter in the Southerland Springs, Texas church shooting was able to purchase a weapon because the military failed to inform the National Crime Information Center that he was given a dishonorable discharge for assaulting his wife and child.

And, you may recall that a simple transposition of letters in the name of one of the Boston Massacre bombers returning from Europe resulted in the failure of the FBI to track his return to the U.S. prior to the bombing.

Red Flags seem to make sense. The murders in Parkland, Florida and Dayton, Ohio are two instances where red flags were ignored, but this isn’t an easy fix either. Mental health and privacy concerns are at issue.

Democrats might well understand that 42 percent of American adults live in a household with a firearm, and 58 percent of rural Americans live in a gun household. Gun owners, according to Pew Research, list the Second Amendment ahead of other rights, with 74 percent saying it is essential to their sense of freedom.

APOLOGY JOE A BLEEDING-HEART LIBERAL – In my August 9, 2019 post I mentioned that I saw Biden moving so far left that he could no longer be considered a moderate since joining Democrat radicals with the white supremacist name-calling of President Trump.

Later, during an appearance at the Iowa State Fair, Biden said, “We choose truth over facts,” a conviction that mirrors the philosophy of none other than Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. Think about it – “truth over facts.”

Ocasio-Cortez went on record during a 60 Minutes interview with Anderson Cooper saying facts do not matter when one is what she considers to be morally right.

While liberals claim to be open-minded and tolerant, their words and actions often prove otherwise.

The Thesaurus lists these synonyms for bleeding-heart liberal: “sentimental fool,” “softy,” and “sympathizer” – all worthy attributes in appropriate situations – however, liberals disregard facts and reality in favor of “feelings” when rule-of-law should prevail or when making decisions on important legislation.

SPEAKING OF APOLOGY JOE – Appearing at the Asian & Latino Coalition in Des Moines, Iowa, Biden said, “Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.”

When the audience hesitated to clap, Biden seemed to recognize his gaffe – that what he said intimated that only Asian and Latino kids are poor and that there are no poor white kids. He struggled to correct his statement, but not before the crowd must have realized it was “old Joe” again.

BUT THERE’S MORE – While walking through a crowd in Iowa, Apology Joe was asked by a Turning Point USA staffer, “How many genders are there?” Biden responded with, “There are at least three.”

When asked to name them, reported Chrissy Clark for The Federalist, Biden said, “Don’t play games with me, kids,” and added, “by the way, the first one to come out for (same sex) marriage was me.”

ELIZABETH WARREN’S EFFORT to shed her out-of-touch East Coast Ivy League elite status while campaigning in Iowa, introduced an $85 billion proposal to “invest” – there’s that liberal term that warns taxpayers to hold onto their wallets – in a broadband infrastructure in rural America.

Naturally, this means more Big Government as her proposal would call for the establishment of a federal Office of Broadband Access to provide governance at the federal level.

The new federal agency would hand out grants to electricity and telephone services, nonprofits, tribes and local governments that promise to use the resources to bring high-quality internet service to communities lacking sufficient access to the digital world, according to Tristan Justice of The Federalist.

The federal government – that’s you and me – would pay 90 cents on the dollar for construction under these grants as conceived by Warren.

Kramerontheright believes that if there was a cry for broadband service in rural America, those who are in the business to provide that service in the free market would have already done a market survey to determine the need and desire of communities.

Those familiar with the Midwest don’t see Warren’s effort improving her chances because older people don’t see broadband as a necessity and they still view her as a socialist.

THANKS TO JUDICIAL WATCH REQUESTS for access to FBI notes under the Freedom of Information Act, the agency released 34 pages of notes, known as “302’s” of 2016 and 2017 interviews with DOJ official Bruce Ohr, who met with the British dossier author Christopher Steele and opposition research firm Fusion GPS’s Glen Simpson.

Ohr’s wife, Nellie Ohr, worked for Fusion GPS throughout the 2016 presidential campaign, when they were hired by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democrat National Committee.

It would be hard to imagine the Ohr’s escaping accountability from DOJ IG Michael Horowitz’s investigation and U.S. Attorney John Durham’s deep dive into DOJ/FBI wrongdoings.

FOSSIL-FUELED FARM MACHINERY (langmeadegroup.com)

MORE SCARE TACTICS emerged from the UN meeting in Geneva this week. “Human-caused climate change is dramatically degrading Earth’s land and the way people use the land is making global warming worse,” according to an Associated Press article. “That creates a vicious cycle that is already making food more expensive, scarcer and less nutritious.”

FOSSIL-FUELED FOREST MANAGEMENT EQUIPMENT (sandysmotherhood.com)

The threat of climate change affecting people’s food on their dinner table is increasing, the UN report states. “But if people change the way they eat, grow food and manage forests, it could reduce the chances of a far warmer future.”

The report claims that if people change their diets, reducing red meat and increasing plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables and seeds, the world can save as much as another 15 percent of current emissions by mid-century.

Balderdash!!

There was no mention of the farm machinery required to grow and harvest those foods. As far as I know, most of them still require fossil fuels.   Try to manage a forest without a chain saw, dozers and other machinery and trucks, all of which use fossil fuels.

AND FINALLY, A GREAT TRUTH provided by G. Gordon Liddy: “A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man, which debt he proposes to pay off with your money.”

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
