Climate change be damned … Biden and the unions … Dem strategist speaks … Chicago Tribune and the Dem race pivot … Dem hypocrisy … Harris on guns … still remembering McCain … long knives out for McSally … and another great truth

Here are my observations and opinions on my selected news of the day.

SO MUCH FOR THE URGENCY of curbing climate change. Democrat presidential candidate Jay Inslee, who considered himself the only candidate for president to declare unequivocally that a national climate change initiative must be the highest priority led by the White House, dropped out of the race without fanfare.

APOLOGY JOE BIDEN received a polite response when he appeared at the Iowa Federation of Labor conference this week.

“God love you. I need you. Look me over. I promise, you will never have a better friend in the White House,” he said after promising them that they could keep their insurance plans.

I doubt that union members have short memories of the Obama promise.

HOW’S THIS FOR A GOAL? – During a discussion about the Democrat candidates still in the running for the presidency, I heard a Democrat political strategist (sorry, I didn’t get his name) say “we want a candidate who can beat Donald Trump and change the direction of the ship.”

EXCUSE ME CAPTAIN – The ship of state is on course for 2020, beginning with high consumer confidence aided by a booming economy with tax cuts, record low unemployment and higher wages, and a major reduction in business-stifling regulations.

Why would you want to change course?

I FOUND IT INTERESTING that John Kass, writing in the Chicago Tribune was critical of the Democrats move to an agenda of race as we approach the 2020 election.

“What was the embittered left – Democrat presidential candidates and their media allies – supposed to do when their hopes of Russia-Trump collusion crashed on the boulevard of broken dreams? Pivot, Kass writes.

“They had invested so much in their fantasy that President Donald Trump was a treasonous agent of Russian boss Vladimir Putin. But when special counsel Robert Mueller’s report came out, and there was no collusion, no crime charged, their fantasy collapsed. Now it’s Race. Race. Race. Race. Race.

“With Americans working and with money in their pockets again, Democrats are reaching for the race card … Desperately.”

Equally interesting was Kass’ view of The New York Times’ effort to peddle race in everything they write about the Trump administration under cover of it’s hoked up 1619 Project, I wrote about yesterday. The Times must cater to the whims of their readers – upper-class white liberals – or they’ll cease to exist as a business, acknowledges Kass. “They’re not longer the paper of record,” Kass insists.

I recently wrote of the trap Democrats and their compliant media were walking into by labelling Trump supporters as racists, white supremacists and Nazis. They still remember being called “deplorables” by Hillary Clinton.

“If Democrats win in 2020, will Trump voters be welcomed back into some brave Trumpless America?” Kass asks, “No. It doesn’t work like that.”

INCIDENTALLY – The Pulitzer Center tweeted school teachers about the Times’ “The 1619 Project In Schools” project, offering free curriculums, guides and activities for students developed by the Center. So, we can expect “racism” to infiltrate our schools, thanks to leftist New York Times.

HYPOCRICY REVEALED Democrats generally avoid the subject of religion, unless it’s convenient at the time. I found it humorous that candidates Sanders, Harris and Booker took advantage to campaign in the Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Las Vegas, only to learn later that the church is led by the Rev. Robert E. Fowler, Sr., who believes being gay is “enough to send you to hell,” and has compared homosexuality to child molestation. It caught Harris completely unaware. Identity politics comes back to bite them.

SPEAKING OF KAMALA HARRIS – She tweeted @KamalaHarris: “Guns shouldn’t be a click way for any domestic terrorist with a laptop. The new executive action I announced this week will help close the online sales loophole.”

Sean Davis responded @seanmdav: “There’s no such thing as an “online sales loophole.” Firearms purchased over the Internet must be processed through a local federally licensed dealer, which is required by law to confirm background checks on all buyers.”

“A YEAR WITHOUT JOHM MC CAIN” headlined a major above-the-fold article featuring two color photos of Cindy McCain on page one of the Arizona Republic Wednesday. Then, on Thursday, the paper published a second feature, “Jack McCain reflects on year without dad,” in another above-the-fold article with a color photo of Jack touching the flag draping his father’s casket.

And, if that isn’t enough, the Republic announced that if will feature “In death as in life, U.S. Sen. John McCain looms large over American political life,” in its Sunday edition. McCain still looms large?

HARDLY COINCIDENTAL, a column by left-winger E. J. Montini, placed alongside the Thursday feature, again attacked Sen. Martha McSally for voting with Republicans for President Trump.

Montini and his colleague Laurie Roberts have written negatively about Mc Sally ever since Governor Ducey selected her to fill the seat left vacant by the passing of McCain.

HAVE YOU HEARD that San Francisco will now be referring to “convicted felons” as “justice involved person?” Ahhh, the looney left coast.

AND FINALLY, today’s great truth from Thomas Jefferson seems quite appropriate with the “free stuff” being offered by the Democrat presidential candidates: “A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything you have.”

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
