The ‘Boo birds’ are out … Dems and the media … Omar, too … Michael Moore’s cheap shot … the left-leaning Arizona Republic’s view on Iran … and Trump’s approval rises

Here are my observations and opinions from my select news of the day.

THE MORNING AFTER quarterbacks, aka the Boo birds, were out in force following President Trump’s decision to take Iranian terror leader Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi militia leader, Abu Mahdi al Muhandis, out of the picture in a “twofer.”

It followed the president’s successful removal of ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi and his second in command Abu al-Hasssan al Muharjir from the battlefield.

While patriotic Americans are praising the president’s decisiveness after eight years of Barack Obama’s “leading from behind” strategy, our 2020 Democrat candidates, their celebrity followers and the media are showing that nothing will alter their hate of Trump.

To a person, they concede that these were bad guys, but not a word of praise for the commander-in-chief.  Instead, they falsely accuse him of ignoring the Constitution by orchestrating the attack without their permission, and charge that he is dragging us into a war with Iran.  Even Democrat attorney Alan Dershowitz, who knows a bit about constitutional law, said there was no doubt that Soleimani fit the description of a combatant.

Other Democrats, who have taken the party to the extreme left, have spoken out against the president, too.  The people of  the State of Minnesota must have been proud to hear that their representative in Congress, Ilhan Omar, was willing to ignore the fact that Soleimani was responsible for the deaths of more than 600 U.S. soldiers, men and women, when she said, “We are outraged the president would assassinate a foreign official, possibly setting off another war without Congressional approval and has zero plan to deal with the consequences.”

Not only is she ill-informed on the president’s right to direct the attack, she has no facts to back up her statement that he has no plan to deal with the consequences.  His sending 3,000 troops to nearby Kuwait is certainly one piece of the plan.

THE NEW YORKER headlined it’s report by Robin Wright,“The Killing of Qasem Soleimani is Tantamount to An Act of War,” while CNN’s Christiane Amanpour chose to praise the terrorist Soleimani as the “legendary figure,” the “so well known” and “beloved.”

Wright said that Brig. Gen. Esmail Gha’ani was named as the Soleimani’s replacement, but a news report Sunday morning said he has not been seen. Smart guy.

SOLEIMANI (moore tweet screengrab)

LEAVE IT TO ANTI-TRUMPER Michael Moore to include a smiling, grandfatherly-looking photo of Soleimani in his tweet with a snarky message @MMFlint: “Hello fellow Americans.  Do you know this man?  Did you know he was your enemy? What? Never heard of him?  By the end of today you will be trained to hate him.  You will be glad Trump had him assassinated.  You will do as you are told.  Get ready to send your sons & daughters off 2 war.”

THE ARIZONA REPUBLIC’S left-leaning editorial board presented its typical anti-Trump viewpoint on Sunday, questioning “whether the United States government gave ample warning to the Iranian government and to the American people that it was about to raise the stakes in this geo-conflict.”

Then, as if America has been asleep during Iran’s 40 years as the chief global exporter of terrorism, the board, acting like a grade-school teacher, instructs     that “the United States government now needs to make sure the American people understand what it means to be on the brink of hot war with a rogue power.”

Surprisingly, the editorial board accurately recalled the long trail of confrontations we have had with Iran since the taking of hostages in 1979,  “provocations” it concedes, were “greater than Fridays attack that did not lead to full-blown war” – yet because Trump is president they paint a picture of doom and gloom.

Donald Trump is not a student of history,” the board obnoxiously asserted while experiencing amnesia of the community organizer who, along with John Kerry, ignored the terrorist activities of Soleimani while they tried to convince us they were formulating the nuclear deal with Iran’s moderates.  A deal, by the way, that was pushed through without approval by the Senate.

“Those who surround him in Washington D.C.,” the Republic board suggests,  “need to impress on him that war is a monumental risk to even larger powers – to be avoided at almost all cost,” as the board’s classroom lecture continued.

MEANWHILE, Trump’s approval rating rose sharply after he ordered the strike, notching a 45.3 percent approval mark, while his disapproval rating went down to 52.3 percent from a previous high of 58.1 percent, reported Spencer Neale of the Washington Examiner on RealClearPolitics data.

FINALLY – Are you ready for your spelling test on the names in the first two paragraphs?

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
