The Iowa caucus system … Klobuchar admits to early attack on Trump … Pete plays the race card … Trump doesn’t fear Bloomberg … Manchin wants Trump censured … and sad news about Rush Limbaughb

Here are my observations and opinions from my select news of the day.

AS I WRITE THIS, the antiquated caucus system is underway in Iowa.  And, as the Democrat candidates for president press for last-minute voter support, they continue to make absurd statements that should turn voters off.

Amy Klobuchar, for instance, told a group that “this march began the day after the inauguration.”  Who would vote for someone, who wouldn’t even give the duly elected president a chance to deliver on his promises?  And, who would vote for someone who is so intellectually challenged that she is unable to see that he has delivered on his promises while enduring unbelievable challenges from within his own government?

Then there’s Pete Buttigieg, who accused President Trump of being a racist, as he struggles to gain minority support.  Appearing on Fox News Channel Monday morning, Buttigieg spoke of the “cruel racist rhetoric coming out of the White House,” despite the president’s proven record of working with all minorities. I don’t know who I was more disappointed in, Buttigieg or Fox anchor Ed Henry, who failed to ask the candidate for examples of that rhetoric to support his claim.

Bernie Sanders, who also plays the race card against the president, also refers to him as a religious bigot, both without evidence, is pulling the wool over the eyes of Iowa’s Democrats as he attacks their party along with the Republicans.

Absurd, too, is the often-repeated response given by voters when asked who they plan to back in their caucus – “I still haven’t made up my mind.”

THE MEDIA, including Bret Baier at Fox News Channel, report that President Trump refers to Mike Bloomberg a lot, alluding to his concern that Bloomberg may be a candidate he may face.  If they would just take the time to review the video tape, his comments about Bloomberg generally follow a question from a member of the media; such was the case in Sean Hannity’s lightening round prior to the Super Bowl.

MEANWHILE, back in the Swamp, after Schiff & Co. have beaten a dead horse with their weak case against President Trump, things are drawing down in preparation of a vote on acquittal on Wednesday.  But not before Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who claims that he remains “undecided” on how he will vote.  Nonsense.

“Never before in the history of our Republic, has there been a purely partisan impeachment vote of a president. Removing this president at this time would not only deeply divide our already divided nation, but also further poison our already toxic political atmosphere,” said Manchin.

His suggestion – censure the president. On what basis, senator?  If you’re serious about uniting the country … vote to acquit.

IF YOU HAVEN’T HEARD, Rush Limbaugh, who has been the voice of conservatism to 20 million listeners on 600 radio stations, three hours a day for three decades, revealed on air Monday that he has been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.   He plans to fight it and continue to be behind the microphone on days between his treatment days.  Please, keep Rush in your prayers.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
