The Passing of Rush Limbaugh

Commentary

RUSH LIMBAUGH, “Mr. Conservative,” has died, but his influence on America will live forever.  I have been a fan since the eighties and recall his television show of the mid-nineties.  I have enjoyed the benefits of being a Rush 24/7 member.

I believe that I first heard the phrase, “words have meaning,” from Rush.  It is in that vein that I have chosen to recognize his talent and contributions.  I have listened to a number of people pay their respects since his wife, Katherine, broke the news on his radio show Wednesday morning. Many of the words I have chosen were used in their remarks.

Rush was a man of introspection, with an intelligence unmatched in media.  His instincts and insight were incredible.  When it comes to conservativism, Rush was an idealogue, and was instructive with a unique capacity to connect with, and influence his audience.  I can’t think of anyone on the political scene, who could explain the differences between conservatism and liberalism/socialism as Rush did so easily.

Rush is irreplaceable.  Over several decades, Rush attracted an estimated weekly radio audience of 20 million people with his daily three hours of talk and his monthly Limbaugh Letter.

No piece on Rush would be complete without the use of the word, “inspiring.” I confess that he has been source of inspiration to me as I cover political issues.

Finally, Rush would occasionally open his show with the phrase, “Talent on loan from God.”  I have a feeling Rush will be taking his golden EIB microphone with him with a plan to reunite with his past listeners.

May God bless Rush Limbaugh and the United States of America.
