‘It’s All Just Beginning to Get Interesting’

Commentary

Apologies to Stephen Kruiser at PJ Media for lifting a quote from his Morning Briefing, “The GOP Isn’t in Turmoil, It’s Growing the Hell Up,” as the headline on this edition of my blog.  It was too good to ignore.

Regular readers will recall my recent attempts to encourage Republicans to change from their usual passivity on issues and grow a backbone. Stand up to the way the left is trying to transform our country, blaming the Trump administration, and peddling lies on systemic racism and climate change.

The left would have you believe that the Republican party is in a soul-searching turmoil, but what we are seeing is a party “growing up and steeling itself for perhaps the most important midterm election in history,” notes Kruiser.

The ouster of Liz Cheney from the number three leadership position in the House is proof positive.  When prominent Democrats are defending Cheney, including Nancy Pelosi, you just know House members made the correct decision.  Democrats are terrified by the Trump supporters who will have a strong voice in 2022.

A BUSH WITH BACKBONE – You might not think that George P. Bush would be backing the GOP decision to oust Cheney, but, unlike this father “Jeb,” and his uncle, “George W.,” he has been a Trump supporter.

GEORGE P. BUSH WITH TRUMP IN 2019

Tweeting @georgepbush, he wrote: “Republicans deserve leadership that represents the views of their constituents, not their own personal vendettas.  We need leaders in Congress that stand up for conservative ideology, and Liz Cheney is not that leader.

“So, instead of training fire on the (former) President, she should really have been firing on Biden and that agenda … that’s what you want out of your leadership, and unfortunately … she didn’t rise to the challenge.”

ELECTED TO REPLACE CHENEY, Rep. Elise Stefanik said she is “proud of President Trump’s support.  He is the most important leader of our party for voters, and its going to be important that we work as a team to win the majority in 2022.”

Facing criticism for her voting record under Trump, Rep. Guy Reschenthaler of Pennsylvania, who helped pin down support for Stefanik, said, “This isn’t about anybody’s voting record.  This job is about messaging.  Elise can clearly message on point.  And she’s also somebody that can drive home the message of the entire conference.”  Reschenthaler is a man with a backbone.

Our Nation’s Finest Showing Backbone

Normally, when former secretaries of State and Defense wrote a letter or an op-ed in opposition to a president, it smelled of partisanship, and I treated it with a grain of salt, but Tuesday’s open letter from 124 retired military leaders is different because it contained a laundry list of threats to America.

While space will not allow me to detail each of those threats, you should be aware that it reviews a wide-range of threats, from China as the greatest external threat to the border crisis, with the drugs and human trafficking.

They voiced concern for the Constitution and the left’s determination to insert socialism and Marxism into our school curriculums and the indoctrination of political correctness and critical race theory in our military training.

I found it interesting that the officers faulted the FBI and Supreme Court for not addressing irregularities in the 2020 election, and warned that the Democrat’s election bill, H.R.1 “would destroy election fairness and allow Democrats to forever remain in power.”

They voiced concern for Big Tech censorship, warned against a resurrected deal with Iran, and urged the administration to reconsider the Keystone XL pipeline decision.

Lastly, the retired officers wrote, “the mental and physical condition of the Commander-in-Chief cannot be ignored. He must be able to quickly make accurate national security decisions involving life and limb anywhere, day or night.”

While the February letter signed by 30 House Democrats regarding authority to launch a nuclear attack didn’t specifically raise concerns over Biden’s mental health, it sent a dangerous signal to nuclear-armed adversaries, and raised the question of who is in charge, according to the retired officers.

I’VE BEEN THINKING about all of those people who voted for Biden because they simply didn’t think Trump was presidential, they disliked his tone, and were tired  of his mean-spirited tweets.

Now, more than ever … may God continue to bless the United States of America.
