In Over Her Head, Harris Wants Criticism to Stop

Commentary

Vice President Harris continued to speak of the need to correct the root cause of why people are leaving Central America during her visit to El Paso Friday, but we know the reason record numbers are invading our borders … politics.

The White House is ground zero for the Democrat Party’s open borders strategy. Their 2020 campaign signaled that they would be welcome, and in President Biden’s first days in office, he rescinded the Trump administration’s policies before having his own policies ready to replace them.  The result has been disastrous.

“Our administration is working to build a fair and functional and humane immigration system,” Harris said.  No one questioned her as to why they didn’t leave the Trump policy in place until their grand plan was “built.”

Biden named Harris to take charge of the immigration problems at the border, and she was appropriately criticized for going to Guatemala and Mexico City to study root causes for the surge in migration.

“I asked Vice President Harris to lead us on this.  I’m absolutely confident she will get the job done.” – President Biden, to Joint Session of Congress, April 28, 2021

Her trip to El Paso came more than 90 days after being assigned to find a solution at the border.  She was criticized because the real border problem is in the Rio Grand Valley, nearly 900 miles east of El Paso.

The Biden-Harris administration’s slow-to-act strategy was made worse by Harris’ smarmy responses to media questions.  Yet it was Harris who told reporters in El Paso that immigration “cannot be reduced to a political issue” as she called for an end to political “rhetoric” and “infighting.”

It was if she was preparing for the coverage sure to follow former President Trump’s planned visit to the border next week.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas appeared to take the responsibility for the selection of El Paso for Harris’ visit, but the White House certainly didn’t want images of her standing at the river’s edge as migrants illegally crossed the border in the epicenter near McAllen, Texas.

REP VERONICA ESCOBAR

Texas Democrat Rep. Veronica Escobar, who traveled with Harris, caused eyes to roll when she embarrassingly said, “Welcome to my community, to the new Ellis Island, to the capital of the border.”

Escobar needs a refresher on the history of Ellis Island, where immigrants came to America legally in the 1890s.  There is simply no comparison with the border entry at El Paso.

Democrat Illinois Sen. Dick Durban accompanied Harris, too.  We are led to believe that he has been a strong voice on immigration reform.  Since when?

MEANWHILE – An overwhelming 80 percent of respondents in a new Harvard/Harris poll see illegal immigration as a serious issue.  Sixty-eight percent believe that Biden’s White House encourages illegal immigration, and that 55 percent believe that former President Trump’s policies should have been left in place.

“Immigration is boiling up as an issue.  Sixty-four percent of registered voters want the Biden administration to issue new, stricter policies to reduce the flow of people across the border.  Overall, 74 percent of voters view the surge as a crisis that needs to be addressed immediately.” – Mark Penn, Democrat strategist and pollster.

Republicans must keep up the pressure on the Biden-Harris administration to end illegal immigration immediately, and don’t even think about offering migrants a path to citizenship.

Now, more than ever … may God continue to bless the United States of America.
