‘The Biden Presidency is in Free-Fall,’ ‘Trump Still Rising’

Commentary

In a nutshell, those two headlines above, appearing over articles I researched, for this side-by-side piece on the status of President Biden and former President Trump, couldn’t be more succinct.

In Stephen L. Miller’s piece for The Spectator, “The Biden Presidency is in Free-Fall,” he reviews Biden’s multiple missteps in recent weeks, and notes that “people seem to be waking up to the fact that Joe Biden is who Joe Biden has always been – only now it’s not just funny gaffes and infamously bad theorizing on the state of the world.  Biden gaffes are now policy.  No wonder the show is flopping.

It appears that America, which was willing to give Grandpa a shot so we could all get some reprieve from the loud angry orange man, is now sending a message to Biden loud and clear: simply not being Trump is not going to cut it.” – Stephen L. Miller, The Spectator

In Kevin Vallier’s RealClear Policy piece, “Biden Falls into the Trust Trap,” he strikes a chord on Biden’s draconian pandemic mandate, and suggests that American’s low trust in institutions and high political polarization may further weaken confidence in our health authorities.”

Looking at the polls

In the Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll, just 31 percent of Iowans approve of how Biden is handling his job, while 62 percent disapprove. It reflects a 12- percentage point drop from the June poll.

A Fox News poll reveals that only half of Americans believe Biden is mentally stable enough to serve as president. – 49 percent of Americans believe Biden to be mentally fit, while 48 percent believe he is not.

Only 35 percent of Texas Hispanic voters indicated they approved or strongly approved of Biden’s job as president in a Dallas Morning News poll.

Gallup reports that Biden dropped 13 points since June and is “now sitting at a dismal 43 percent approval rating, the lowest of his presidency.”  Meanwhile, believe it or not, Vice President Harris has a 49 percent approval rating.

Finally, Pew Research’s survey revealed that “fewer than half of adults surveyed’ – 44 percent – approved of Biden’s handling of the job as president, a drop from 55 percent in July and from 65 percent in March, while 53 percent disapproved.

Looking at Trump’s Future

In Matt Margolis’ piece for PJ Media, “Trump Still Rising,” he writes, “the next presidential election may be a few years away, but if voters have anything to say about it now, it doesn’t look good for the Democrats.”

In a hypothetical matchup between Trump and Biden in 2024, Margolis reports that Trump would win 51 to 41, with Independents giving their support to Trump “by a whopping 20 points over Biden,” according to the latest Rasmussen poll.

However, who in their right mind thinks Biden will be on the Democrat ticket? If it’s Harris, Trump wins 52 to 39, according to Rasmussen.

An overwhelming 74 percent of Republicans think it’s a good idea for Trump to consider a 2024 presidential campaign.  “About one in five Democrats say they would vote for Trump over either Biden or Harris if the election were today,” according to the survey.

In another column by Margolis, “2024: A Trump Landslide in the Making?” he writes about a national survey by McLaughlin & Associates, in which Trump “leads among suburban voters 52 to 43 percent, and among women 50 to 47 percent.”

Interestingly, more than half of likely voters surveyed agreed with the statement – “I use to dislike Trump’s aggressive, confrontational style, but now I see how weak Biden was in dealing with the Taliban in Afghanistan, I’m thinking maybe Trump wasn’t so bad.”

Finally, in the who cares of what she thinks department … Megan McCain, describes Joe Biden in her debut column for the Daily Mail – “The man I once considered a friend and confidante has morphed into a feckless and unreliable leader I no longer recognize.  He gives all the signs of stubborn cantankerous naivete, surrounded by idiotic sycophants, anyone who has spent more than fifteen minutes around politics should easily recognize as the worst type of corrupt bureaucrats.”

Kramerontheright wonders why it took so long for her to see the obvious.

Now, more than ever … may God continue to bless the United States of America.
