Is It Any Wonder Confidence is in the Dumper?

Commentary

Confidence in America is in the dumper and President Biden hopes to make the Roe v. Wade decision the issue during the midterms, saying “We cannot allow an out-of-control Supreme Court working in conjunction with extremist elements of the Republican Party to take away freedoms.”

He seems to forget that Donald Trump was elected partly because he said he would, and name conservative constitutionalists to the Court.  And he did.  Three times.

Our President Has Lost it

Seven in ten Americans say we are on the wrong track, with 64 percent saying they are worse off since Joe Biden took office.  He has a 20 percent approval rating on handling the economy, the top concern of voters.

During his sixth visit to Ohio since taking office, however, Democrat candidates for Senate and Governor had “scheduling conflicts” that prevented them from greeting him. Not surprising, since only 29 percent want Biden to run again in 2024.

Everyone knows that President Biden cannot speak to us without the use of a teleprompter, but we continue to see he even has difficulty using it.  During a Friday appearance, he accidentally read the instruction to him to “repeat the line.”  He recently made a similar gaffe while using prepared note cards.

On the Energy Front

While President Biden continues to promote electric vehicles, Toyota Motor Corporation’s president, Akio Toyoda, criticized the excessive hype over electric vehicles, saying advocates fail to consider the carbon emitted by generating electricity and the costs of an EV transition. “The more EV’s we build,” he said, “the worse carbon dioxide gets.”

“Banning gasoline-powered cars will cause the car industry to collapse, causing the loss of millions of jobs,” Toyoda said.

Most of us recall when Biden, while campaigning in New Hampshire, took the hand of an environmental activist, saying, “Kiddo (she was 24), I want you to look at my eyes.  I guarantee you, I guarantee you, we’re going to end fossil fuel.”

I guess we should have considered that just one of those campaign promises he would never honor, but on day one in office he shut down oil and gas production and took away our energy independence.

Last week, as Americans were paying $5 plus for a gallon of gas, we learned that Biden sold 950,000 barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, designated for our emergency use, to a Chinese firm, in which Hunter Biden happens to own a stake.

In a distinct anti-American energy move, Biden plans to ask Saudi Arabia to increase production.

There’s more.  As a result of the Supreme Court’s decision to put a damper on the EPA’s regulatory authority to control carbon dioxide emissions, the Biden administration, in revenge, is considering a clamp down over ozone levels in the Permian Basin, the world’s largest oil field straddling Texas and New Mexico, which accounts for 40 percent of the nation’s petroleum production.

Immigration

While the Biden administration continues to ignore federal law, it says that our immigration policy is broken and requires Congress to act, insisting that the border is closed.  Yet, two million migrants from dozens of countries, who successfully crossed the Rio Grande River, have been transported to cities across the nation. In addition, another 50,000 or more “got aways” have slipped into communities on their own.

Former President Trump was getting the wall built and had the migrant and drug trafficking under control.

Law Enforcement

Eighty-six percent of voters view violent crime to be an important issue in the midterms. Law enforcement continues to be a problem in Democrat-controlled cities, with 51 percent of voters giving President Biden a poor rating.  They recognize that the radical wing of his party endorses the defunding of the police.

With an attorney general who allows protestors to illegally protest in front of the homes of Supreme Court justices, and looks the other way on Biden family corruption, how can we expect the Democrats to be serious about law enforcement.

Our Complicit Media

Lack of trust in reporting by the media is a contributing factor to the all-time low of institutional confidence among Americans.  We see it in their lack of coverage of the energy crisis, uncontrolled migration on our southern border, and corruption of the Biden family.

Stating that the Declaration of Independence has “flaws and deeply ingrained hypocrisies,” the woke taxpayer-funded NPR ended its 34-year tradition of the annual July Fourth reading of the founding document.
