For years, activists on the left have attempted to scare us with climate change tales that predicted the end of the world as we know it. It was so serious that we were told that we needed to sacrifice our energy independence by supplanting fossil fuels with renewable energy sources like wind and solar.
The Biden Administration reinstated our membership in the Paris Accord with billions of dollars earmarked to aid third world nations in combatting climate change and signed two massive pieces of legislation to prematurely transition the nation to renewables with a fantasy of zero emissions by 2050.
Perhaps you noticed that the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act is commonly referred to as “the climate bill.” Knowing that Americans do not consider climate change a major concern, Democrats didn’t want it in the title. “Inflation” is, but it will not reduce inflation. Yet, they continue to say it represents the single biggest climate investment in U.S. history.
While doing research for Kramerontheright, I noticed a shocking headline – “Over 1,000 Scientists and Professionals Sign Formal Declaration: There is No Climate Emergency”– in a column by Leslie Eastman for LegalInsurrection.com.
“The political fiction that humans cause most or all climate change and the claim that the science behind this notion is “settled,” has been dealt a savage blow by the publication of a World Climate Declaration (WCD) signed by over 1,100 scientists and professionals,” she wrote.
“There is no climate emergency. Therefore, there is no cause for panic and alarm,” according to the authors who were drawn from across the world and led by the Norwegian physics Nobel Prize Laureate Professor Ivar Glaever.
“There is no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts and suchlike natural disasters, or making them more frequent. However, there is ample evidence that CO2 mitigation measures are as damaging as they are costly.”
Don’t expect to hear this on CNN or MSNBC, or read about this in The New York Times, because it doesn’t fit the leftist agenda.
Ask yourself – why is it that 51 former intelligence officers can sign a document declaring the Hunter Biden laptop story as Russian disinformation, and it makes the news, but when 1,100 scientists and professionals from all over the world tell us there is no climate emergency, it is ignored. The list of signatories, including 168 from the U.S., can be found on the World Climate Declaration website.
Incidentally, the list of signatories includes 38 individuals from Sweden, home of the impolite activist Greta Thunberg.
“Climate science is said to have degenerated into a discussion based on beliefs, not on sound self-critical science,” according to the Declaration. “Climate science should be less political, and climate policies should be more scientific.”
I found the remarks about climate models interesting in that I have written a number of posts for this blog on their variance from study to study. You may recall my references to the research of Francis Menton, who writes the Manhattan Contrarian blog.
“We should free ourselves from the naïve belief in immature climate models,” the WCD states. “In the future, climate research must give significantly more emphasis to empirical science.”
As I have frequently written about the cyclical nature of climate change, I found their statement that “The geological archive reveals that Earth’s climate has varied as long as the planet existed, with natural cold and warm phases.” They note that the “Little Ice Age ended as recently as 1850, therefore, it is no surprise that we now are experiencing a period of warming.”
While most countries of the western world still commit to zero-emissions by 2050, there is evidence of energy blackouts in the UK, Germany and Spain, accompanied by higher energy costs.
“In fact, it will not be done,” says Menton. “Not just will net zero in electricity generation not be achieved worldwide by 2050 or any time close to that, but it won’t be achieved in any individual country, no matter how committed.”
Meanwhile, we are stuck with the Inflation Reduction Act with “investments” to put us on a fantasy path to 40 percent emissions reduction by 2030.
When asked how the Act would benefit Americans, our out-of-touch energy secretary, Jennifer Granholm, referred to a series of tax credits, like 30 percent on the installation of solar panels. In her home state of Michigan, that would be about $4,800 on the average solar system cost of $16,000, people cannot afford. And if Americans want to save $5,196 on weather-efficient windows, they need to be willing to spend $17,320.
Americans need to wake up. While our household expenses rise and increased wages are eaten up by inflation, our government is taking us down a rabbit hole.
I have to believe that voting Republican on November 8, improves our chances of restoring sanity to our energy future.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
