Politics and Climate Change News Provides Fodder for the Ill-informed

Commentary

When former football star Herschel Walker, a Republican candidate for Senate in Georgia, began attacking his opponent, Raphael Warnock, as one “who only cares about making a better life for himself, not the people of Georgia,” I decided to look into it.

People talk about wanting fresh talent and term limits on those who have made millions in Congress, yet Walker is one of those GOP candidates being rapped as unelectable due to his inexperience.

When candidate Warnock was running against Republican Kelly Loeffler, he accused her of “using the people’s seat to enrich yourself, and it looks like that’s exactly what he has done.  He disclosed a total income of $532,781 in 2021, a significant hike from the $221,602 he earned the year before his election.

While the Democrats have been trying to smear Walker with incidents in his past, voters know that Warnock’s ex wife filed a custody suit against him claiming that he left her “financially strapped” by saddling her with unpaid childcare expenses even as his income increased.

Who are they?

Those 29 percent of likely voters who think the country is heading in the right direction, according to Rasmussen Reports, while 64 percent believe the nation headed down the wrong track.

Election Shenanigans

And again, Pennsylvania is the site.  In the middle of the election cycle, it’s Department of State has suddenly changed its voter registration application form to include a mail-in ballot application.  Its causing headaches for county election directors while causing voter confusion.

Explaining the confusion, Lancaster County election director, Christa Miller, said, “One has to be done before the other.  Obviously, you have to be a voter in order to get a detailed ballot, so that has to be processed first.  And then our mail-in ballot application ballot can be processed.  We also file them completely different.”

And Kramerontheright wonders if Pennsylvanians asked for the form changes in gender identification options to add “Non-Binary” to the “Male” and “Female” blanks.  I toyed with calling a friend who moved to Arizona from the commonwealth, but just knew what he would tell me.

News from the Climate Change Hoax

Parts of the Great Barrier Reef have recorded the highest amount of coral in 36 years, according to a CNN report.  Experts saw a one third increase between August 2021 and May 2022.

That’s odd … on April 18, 2018, CNN reported, “Global Warming is killing the Great Barrier Reef,” noting that “Marine heat waves caused by global warming are killing off the corals.”

Then there’s this … Under the Washington Examiner headline, “As Climate Heats Up, America Chills Out,” there was an interesting comment from Denver software engineer, Jack Hermanson, that I found makes the point I’ve been making.

“I don’t know that it makes sense to say that individuals should have to work and fix the climate,” he said. “I would say my individual actions hardly mean anything at all.”

The article went on to report that at least half the country agrees with Hermanson. They see the climate changing, it’s just that a warming climate doesn’t seem to be a pressing issue.

Unless you are The Washington Post …

After drawing reader attention with the scare headline, “Greenland ice sheet set to raise sea levels by nearly a foot, study finds,” the paper concedes that “Human-driven climate change has set in motion massive ice losses in Greenland that couldn’t be halted even if the world stopped emitting greenhouse gases today.

But of course, we know that. On January 26, 2021, John Kerry told us that “reducing emissions to zero wouldn’t make much difference in the global climate fight.” But that hasn’t stopped the Biden administration’s massive spending spree on getting to net zero emissions.

… or a California lawmaker

In case you haven’t heard, California plans to ban the sale of gas-powered cars by 2035.  They have goals to reach 35 percent of their goal by 2026, 68 percent by 2030 and 100 percent by 2035.  Washington’s wacko Gov. Jay Inslee says his state will follow California by 2035.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
