President Biden’s speech to the National Education Association, in an appearance sponsored by the Democrat National Committee on September 23, 2022, made political sense because 98 percent of the NEA’s contributions went to candidates on the left.
Once again, however, it provides me the opportunity to remind readers of another speech; one that was given on July 6, 2009 by the NEA’s retiring general counsel, Bob Chanin.
I won’t apologize for repeating his statement on retiring, because you need to be reminded that the NEA is not the high-brow professional employee organization it claims to be, it’s a labor union pure and simple. It’s a power-obsessed political group that serves is members, not our children.
Posing the question as to why the NEA has been such an effective organization, Chanin said:
“It is not because of creative ideas, it is not because of the merit of our position, it is not because we care about children, it’s not because we have a vision of a great public school for every child.
“The NEA and its affiliates are effective because we have power and we have power because there are more than 3.2 million people who are willing to pay us hundreds of millions of dollars in dues each year because they believe we are the union that can most effectively represent them, the union that can protect their rights and advance their interests as education employees.”

Like I said earlier, it’s easy to understand why Biden appeared before the NEA. The organization has contributed some $98 million to Democrat PACs since 1990 and has spent $64,500,000 on lobbying since 1998.
The NEA has faced criticism over its approach to education, including allegedly promoting explicit sexual content to teenagers. They’re also going after organizations opposing their effort to including gender identity and sexual freedoms in public schools. The NEA already supports the teaching of Critical Race Theory in schools.
But it has been Randi Weingarten and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) that has been in the news of late with her demands regarding school closures and infrastructure spending during the Covid pandemic and after. The 1.7 million members of the AFT are affiliated with the AFL/CIO.
The AFT has contributed $4 million each to the Senate and House Majority PACs and another $213,000 each to the Senate and House campaign committees.
Time to Take a Stand
The Republican Party’s recently announced Commitment to America includes a pledge to advocate for a Parent’s Bill of Rights, believing that parents, not the state, have the primary authority for raising their children, and that public schools serve rather than rule the parents. It will contain the right to know what’s being taught in schools and to see the reading material.
Thanks to parents who are now looking into gender identity materials used in our public schools, books like “The GayBC’s” have been found in several school libraries. Being promoted “for the toddler,” an entire LGBTQ+ vocabulary of 26 words is taught in the book, said to be for ages 4-8.
“C” is for coming out, “G” is for gay, “Q” is for queer and “T” is for trans in the book that one reviewer gave five stars. In the book, a ladybug gains a matching girlfriend to become lesbian.
Authored and illustrated by a Canadian, it is marketed as “A cheeky, progressive adult alphabet book that celebrates and illuminates LGBTQ terminology.”
There are Others
“Who Are You?” is described as a brightly illustrated children’s book that provides straightforward introduction to gender for ages 5-8. But there are several more.
You can stop this madness at the ballot box in just 42 days when you return control to Republicans.
