MAY FOOL’S DAY honors go to President Biden, who again made a fool of himself at the annual Correspondent’s Dinner, yukking it up while purposely ignoring the “peaceful” protesting at college campuses for political reasons. Not a good decision.
Biden took advantage of the ballroom filled with many of his sycophants to plea for support “with all due respect,” adding, “I think, in your hearts, you know what’s at stake. The stakes couldn’t be higher. Credible information that people can trust is more important than ever.
“I’m sincerely not asking you to take sides, asking you to rise up to the seriousness of the moment. That makes you … and I mean this from the bottom of my heart … it makes you more important than ever.”
He received polite laughter when he cockily poked fun of the New York Times “blasting me for actively and effectively avoiding independent journalists,” who seek interviews. The media is not happy.
But the media have mixed feelings
At MSNBC, after playing a clip of Biden toasting members of the press, Nicole Wallace lamented, “this time next year I might not be sitting here,” as if a Trump victory would doom her career.
A pathetic excuse for a journalist, Wallace somehow kept her job during Trump’s presidency, yet she sees the end of a free press.
Over at Fox, Greg Gutfeld cleverly commented that more viewers saw the replay of her comment on Fox than saw it when she said it on her network.
But it was George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley who called her out. “It was a crushingly ironic moment,” he said, “Wallace has been repeatedly criticized for spreading false news.”
Turley, a Democrat, took issue with her statement, “It is not accurate to say everyone in the Republican Party is a conspiracy theorist but as with all racists, all of the conspiracy theorists are Republicans.”
Turley recalled how she bought into the Hunter Biden laptop story being a “Russian disinformation operation,” when the 51 former intel officers peddled that tale prior to the 2020 election.
She also went along with the Russian collusion story in 2016, and repeated the false claims of Rep. Adam Schiff’s conspiracy theory.
Continuing, Turley recalled her pushing the false story of border agents whipping migrants from horseback and dismissing the findings of special counsel John Durham.
“Media like Wallace don’t give a darn about any of the freedoms that Democrats are threatening,” wrote Nick Arama in Red State, “they are truly panicked about people not buying what they’re selling anymore. They see their influence crumbling.”
Political pundits recall that Wallace was once the White House communications director during the George W. Bush presidency and in his 2004 reelection campaign, and an advisor to John McCain in his 2008 campaign. She once described herself as a “self-loathing former Republican.” It shows.
ALSO AT MSNBC, former speaker Nancy Pelosi had a near meltdown during an interview with host Katy Tur. “If you want to be an apologist for Donald Trump, that may be your role, but it ain’t mine,” Pelosi said.
Pelosi didn’t expect Tur, or MSNBC of all places, to point out the inconvenient fact Biden’s job creating record was a mirage of those lost in Trump’s last year. Tur couldn’t hide her amusement with Pelosi’s accusation as she said, “I don’t think anybody can accuse me of that.”
STILL AT MSNBC, where Mika Brzezinski, co-host of Morning Joe, probably wished she hadn’t commented that the footage of the protests “reminded her of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.” Oops.
Previous comparisons of the riots in Portland, Seattle and Minneapolis to Jan.6 were not accepted.
CONCERNS AT CNN – Upon reflection of the first terms of Biden and Trump, their poll revealed that Trump’s term as president was a success, while a broad majority said Biden’s has so far been a failure. Among registered voters, Trump support held steady at 49 percent, while Biden declined to 43 percent since the last poll.
Voters have fond memories of Trump’s term in office, CNN conceded, while it viewed Biden facing extreme pressure to do more to remind voters of the turmoil of Trump’s term. A difficult task in that Biden’s term has been so chaotic.
Trump antagonist Jim Acosta was astounded with the voter feelings for the former president.
CNN’s finding that Biden is faring worse than in previous CNN polls among the youngest voters, trailing Trump by a 51 to 40 percent margin.
THAT STIRRED Democrat strategist James Carville, who pops up in every presidential election cycle, like the groundhog Punxsutawney Phil does from Cobblers Knob, Pennsylvania each spring.
Addressing an imaginary young voter, Carville said, “You little f**king 26-year-old, you don’t feel the election’s important to me. ‘They’re not addressing the issues I care about.’”
“So, my advice to tell these young people to get off your mother**cking ass and go vote … like your entire future and the entire future of the United States depends on it because quite frankly it does, and that’s not an exaggeration.”
You know Carville is getting desperate when he stoops to four-letter words.
AND FINALLY, despite the effort of Biden’s politicized judiciary to keep Trump off the campaign trail and instead defending himself in court, Trump continues to rise in the polls.
When Rasmussen Reports asked: In terms of the New York trial, 32 percent of likely voters say it made them more likely to vote for Trump, while 42 percent said the trial has not made much difference in how they would vote. Fifty percent still view Trump favorably, (Men-52 percent and Women-48 percent; Whites-53 percent, Blacks-38 percent and Hispanics-52 percent
PONDER THIS – In 1928, Al Smith had a memorable slogan while campaigning for president: “Vote for Al Smith and make your wet dreams come true.” He cleverly played on his stance as an anti-Prohibition candidate. With Trump’s promise to drill for oil, the liquid gold of the earth, it just might catch on.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
