Ironically, prior to the assassination attempt on former President Trump, I had drafted an edition of my blog about President Biden’s sudden shift of personal attacks on Trump.
While Trump has been talking about how he was going to make America great again, Biden went to Detroit and other Michigan locations and attacked Trump the man, Trump the convicted felon, Trump the rapist, and Trump the man of multiple bankruptcies.
Even the left-leaning New York Times reported “it was a version of Mr. Biden’s that has been absent since he began his election campaign.”
This was a shift in tactics from his repeated claims of Trump being an existential threat to democracy, that wasn’t gaining any traction.
Soon, after the shooting, President Biden, speaking from Rehoboth Beach Delaware, condemned the violence, but it is he who has been ramping up the rhetoric about Trump.
I can only hope that the left will now understand that verbal attacks on the opposition, like Biden’s in Detroit, can result in events like we just witnessed in Butler, Pennsylvania.
We came within a millimeter of losing Trump as our presidential candidate, possibly the result of rhetoric against him. And, as I click on publish, I am learning that that law enforcement ignored reports of a man climbing to the roof of the building, where the shooter was eventually killed. Time will tell us about the shooter’s history and why he was permitted to scale that building without apprehension.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
