My December Fool’s Day honor goes to the bevy of blue state governors and mayors and sanctuary city protectors who have banded together to oppose President Elect Trump’s pledge to mass deport illegal migrants.
With Trump’s pledge to close the border on Day One, his first nomination, stands to reason, was Tom Homan, who returns as the border czar. Addressing jurisdictions opposing his deportation plan, Homan, citing New York City, said, “We may have to double the number of agents we send to New York City, because we’re going to do the job with you or without you.”
Fellow blogger Francis Menton reminds us how the word “insurrection” was liberally applied in the press to describe the January 6, 2021, breaching of the Nation’s Capitol.
He suggests, “if the word ‘insurrection’ can be applied there, then how about to the current efforts of federal bureaucrats to insulate themselves and their chosen policies from the control of the newly President Trump?”
To that, I would add the actions of the blue state officials announcing their intention to ignore the president’s orders to remove illegals and return them to their home countries.
In Massachusetts, one of eight announced states planning to block deportation efforts, Gov. Maura Healey responded, “absolutely not,” when asked if she would support the action.
Yet, in the span of less than a week, deportation officers arrested three illegal migrants across the state of Massachusetts, where local law limits law enforcement’s ability to cooperate with ICE. Those arrested were either accused of raping a child or convicted of raping a child, ICE officials announced on Wednesday.
When Denver Mayor Mike Johnston said he was willing to go to jail over his protests about mass deportation, Homan said, “if he’s willing to go to jail, I’m willing to put him in jail because there’s a statute – Title 8 United States Code 1324 (iii), and it’s a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal alien from immigration authorities. It’s also a felony to impede a federal law enforcement officer.”
Hooray for Taylorwood
Hats off to Taylor Sheridan, creator of the TV series “Landman,” for defying the Hollywood environmentalists.
With a windmill in the background, actor Billy Bob Thornton, who plays oilmanTommy Norris, says, “They use alternative energy. There’s nothing clean about this.”
“Please, Mr. Oilman, tell me how the wind is bad for the environment,” replies Rebecca Falcone, an oilfield attorney, played by actress Kayla Wallace.
“You have any idea how much diesel will have to burn to mix that much concrete or make that steel and haul this s**t out here and put it together with a 450-foot crane?” You want to guess how much oil it takes to lubricate that f**king thing? Or winterize it? In its 20-year lifespan, it won’t offset the carbon footprint of making it. And don’t get me started on solar panels and the lithium in your Tesla battery.”
Coincidentally
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who has gone over the edge with climate actions, planned a 25-gigawatt capacity wind farm offshore, but found it wasn’t going to be easy.
California’s continental shelf rapidly descends to a depth of 4,000 feet. This requires floating wind turbines, which must be imported from Europe or China. The plan now calls for developers to haul 2,500 10 megawatt turbines, each about 1,000 feet tall from the waterline to the tip of the blade, to points 20 miles offshore.
There they will be connected to the sea floor with cables nearly a mile long. High voltage underwater cables will transmit electricity to offshore sub-stations.
“This is an environmental and financial catastrophe in waiting,” noted Edward King, director of energy and water policy at the California Policy Center.
May God continue to bless the United States as we begin the last month of 2024.
