Commentary
Have you seen the news clips of Al Gore and Barack Obama talking about attacking waste and abuse? It sounded good, but it was all talk.
But hang in there, folks; President Trump is moving at breakneck speed with executive orders and remarks at his daily conversations with the media, and I’m attempting to provide you with the stuff you may have missed from him and those around him … and the opposition, of course.
Inefficiency, Waste and Abuse
In my February 14, 2025, edition, I wrote about the $20 billion Biden rushed out the door to keep it from the incoming administration.
As he attempts to recover those funds, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin found another abuse of taxpayer funds. Biden sent $160 million to Lion Electric, a Canadian manufacturer, to purchase electric buses, rather than breaking the money in progress payments.
With $95 million in orders undelivered, the company went bankrupt. Chalk that up as another failed green initiative – remember Solyndra? Ashville, North Carolina bought the Biden-Harris pitch and spent millions to buy electric buses, only to learn that they needed to be charged every 70 miles.
In addition, Ashville has five electric buses that quickly broke down and cannot be repaired due to the company going out of business.
“Elon Musk and the DOGE crew are now a few weeks into their work, and the examples of brazen waste, fraud, and misuse of taxpayer funds are exploding forth like a gusher.” – Francis Menton, The Manhattan Contrarian
The Opposition
While leftist legislators gather here and there to voice their disdain for DOGE, Trump and Musk, looking and sounding more foolish every day as they seem not care what that their constituents are losing money every day.
One of the most vocal on the radical left is Maryland ‘s Rep. Ayanna Pressley, but Representatives Raskin, AOC and others continue to make fools of themselves.
Connecticut Democrat Sen. Richard Blumenthal gathered with a small group outside the Veteran Affairs office to rail against Trump and Musk’s “assault on VA’s workforce and harmful policies for veterans and their families.”
Outrageously, Blumenthal said, “Memo to Elon Musk – Nine million veterans are watching you give them the middle finger, and we’re not going to stand for it.”
Blumenthal fails to recognize that Trump, SecDef Hegseth and new VA administrator Doug Collins are all strong advocates of the military.
Wacko James Carville, the tired Democrat strategist, teamed up with former business journalist Al Hunt on the Politics War Room to discuss the implications of Trump 2.0.
“We’re flooded in sh*t, and we are searching for a way to deal with this. He keeps … he keeps moving with one stupid thing after another,” said Carville. “We’re getting overwhelmed. Things that we thought would kill a political career, that would be poisonous for whatever reason, this guy keeps chugging along.”
Two Level Heads
Doug Shoen, former Bill Clinton advisor and influential Democrat strategist, said, “Fundamentally, I think the party should be cooperating with President Trump when the issues have board support, like immigration, the economy and reducing the size of government.”
Former Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips, who unsuccessfully challenged Biden for the 2024 nomination, told CNN that “he wishes Democrats would actually work with Republicans to identify waste and fraud instead of attacking Elon Musk.”
Rasmussen Reports that 50 percent of likely voters rate the president’s performance as a leader as good or excellent, better than it was during his first term.
The Patel Confirmation
All 12 Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance Kash Patel’s confirmation while all 10 Democrats on the panel opposed it, setting up a possible vote next week.
As director of the FBI, Patel will work under the newly confirmed Attorney General Pam Bondi, who, together, will hopefully clean up the DOJ after the weaponization that enveloped the department under AG Merrick Garland.
A Reminder
Only Donald Trump would think of doing this. He had a copy of his Fulton County Georgia mug shot, as published on the cover of the New York Post, framed and hung in the entrance to the Oval Office as a reminder to those who tried, but failed, to keep him from returning to the White House. It can be seen over the shoulder of Chief of Staff Suzy Wiles in the accompanying photo.
Finally, Ponder This
MSNBC invited former CIA Director John Brennan, who was quoted in the infamous letter by 51 former intelligence officers saying that Hunter Biden’s laptop had “all the earmark of Russian information operation,” to provide commentary.
Still attacking Trump on every opportunity, Brennan, after returning from a trip to Europe, claimed, “I must tell you that the frustration and anger with the United States has never been more palpable,” suggesting a 180 reverse of what the United States stood for under Biden.
While I expect Trump will get along just fine with the rest of the world, he has made it known that America will no longer be played as a sucker as he embraces America First.
Expect next week to be jam-packed with news from the White House.
May God continue to bless the United States of America
