Commentary
Amid the squawks over President Trump’s decisions on tariffs and the efforts of Elon Musk’s DOGE team to weed out fraud and abuse while improving efficiency in a smaller government, the leaderless Democrat party, having no solutions of its own, has taken to TikTok with silly song and dance routines.
Since my last edition, in which I included a number of quotes with opinions on the president’s address to Congress and the American people, even CBS and CNN acknowledged the approval of viewers at 76 percent, while referring to it as “inspiring, hopeful and even unifying.”
During his address, the president said, “Once again, I look at the Democrats in front of me and I realize there is absolutely nothing I can say to make them happy or to make them stand, smile or applaud.
“It’s sad, and it just shouldn’t be this way
“So, Democrats sitting before me, for just this one night, why not join us in celebrating so many incredible wins for America, for the good of our nations? Let’s work together and let’s truly make America great again.
“Every day my administration is fighting to deliver the change America needs to bring a future America deserves and we’re doing it. This is a time for big dreams and bold action.”
But even with that reach out, Democrats sat on their hands.
It wasn’t “the best look for our party,” said Pennsylvania’s Democrat Sen. John Fetterman, who has been sounding pretty good lately, siding often with the president’s common-sense agenda.
His Senate colleague, California’s Democrat Sen. Adam Schiff, of all people citing anyone else on the question of truth, said there was nothing “factual or truthful” in what Trump had to say. When he was told how popular the speech was with Americans, he put them down, saying “I don’t know what speech they were watching,” the speech “wasn’t worth watching.”
Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan, no fan of Trump, seemed to echo Fetterman, however. “The Democrats brought the hate. They sat stone-faced, joyless and loveless. They don’t show love for Americans anymore.
“They look down on them, feel distance from them, instruct them, remind them to feel bad they’re surrounded by injustice because, well, they’re unjust.
“They looked as if they aren’t going to win for a long time,” Noonan wrote as she gave three thoughts. “One, these aren’t serious people. Two, their job was to show they are an alternative to Mr. Trump, and instead they showed why he won. Third, and most important, they will continue to lose for a long time.”
Remarking that losing parties usually shape up and come back, but Noonan noted, “No, these guys don’t know what happened, they are going to lose over and over before they get the message”
Continuing to spout “Trump bad,” isn’t enough to win, she wrote. “You have to start realizing how popular he is with your own voters.”
In the news section of the Journal, a headline read,” Democrats Fight Over How to Fight Back.”
Have You Seen It?
Following the cringe worthy childish video by Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett and her foul-mouth attack of Trump on her podcast, we were “treated” to the video organized by Connecticut Democrat Rep. Rosa DeLauro, who reminded RedState’s Nick Arama of a “bag lady.” Known as the “choose your fighter” video, it features a handful of Democrat women pretending to be boxers while dancing.
A photo of DeLauro accompanies this segment, because you may not be familiar with the name. If you watch the news at all, you would have seen her and understand the bag lady description.
Now serving her 18th term in the House, you won’t be surprised to know that she supports abortion rights, stronger regulation of firearms, and now believes public education in the U.S. is under existential threat.
While she has falsely stated, “If the Department of Education is dismantled, 26 million vulnerable students across the country would lose access to needed services,” at no time does she reference the low test scores recorded by American kids, despite the per pupil cost we are bearing as taxpayers.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
