While the media on the left either gives the Obama-Russiagate scandal short shrift or ignore it altogether, I will be commenting on “Irrefutable Evidence,” “Explosive Revelations,” and a “Conspiracy to Subvert President Trump’s 2016 Victory” in reporting by responsible journalists.
It shouldn’t be surprising, because the leftist media knows the story implicates them, like the Hunter Biden laptop story and the attempt to cover-up Biden’s mental and physical capacity to serve as president.
Appearing at the White House press conference on Wednesday, DNI Tulsi Gabbard laid out facts, and named names – Obama, Brennan, Clapper and others – who schemed to undermine the Trump presidency after his 2016 victory.
While Gabbard’s use of the words, “treasonous conspiracy” accusing former president Barack Obama during Trump’s transition in 2016, she later stated that the specific charges would be made by the DOJ. Her allegations are supported in more than 100 pages of declassified documents.
“There is irrefutable evidence that detail how President Obama and his national security team directed the creation of an intelligence community assessment that they knew was false,” said Gabbard. “They knew it would promote the contrived narrative that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help President Trump win, selling it to the American people as though it were true. It wasn’t.”
Journalist Matt Taibbi, who has followed this scandal from 2016, wrote, “For sure, there will be people who remain convinced that nothing untoward occurred. Nonetheless, it appears the highest levels of government during the final days of the Obama administration orchestrated a deception designed to deceive us all.
I found it interesting that Taibbi recalled “once seemed as a lock that Obama would be remembered as the winsome hero of Shepard Fairey’s portrait (at left), but Gabbard’s documents place him at the center of an unprecedented act of political sabotage, committed in his last Oval Office days as a humiliated lame-duck in the winter of 2016-2017.”
“If Gabbard’s charges are true,” wrote Eli Lake in The Free Press, “Obama’s intervention would be the biggest scandal in American political history.”
It has been generally acknowledged that Obama is immune of criminal prosecution even if the evidence that he directed the actions of his intelligence officials.
“But it doesn’t help the people around him at all,” remarked Trump, adding that “He owes me big, Obama owes me big.”
“The implications of this are far reaching and have to do with the integrity of our democratic republic,” said Gabbard concluding her press conference statement. “It has to do with an outgoing president taking action to manufacture intelligence, to undermine and usurp the will of the American people in that election and launch what would be a years-long coup against the incoming President of the United States, Donald Trump.”
Gabbard told reporters in the overflowed press room, all the documents had been forwarded to AG Pam Bondi, who praised Gabbard for ”delivering accountability for the American people,” and stated that the DOJ “will investigate the troubling disclosures fully and leave no stone unturned to deliver justice.”
Wasting no time, Bondi announced the formation of a Strike Force to assess and follow up on the evidence. Strike Teams, new to me, are specialized teams in the DOJ toolbox, each tailored to address specific issues.
I believe this assignment is ideally suited for the Assessment Strike Force, designated to investigate alleged weaponization of the intelligence community, responding to concerns raised about past intelligence manipulations.
Francis Menton, who has covered this story since 2016 in his blog, the Manhattan Contrarian, writes, “In my opinion, then and now, it was obvious from the beginning that this had been a completely political operation, with no underlying substance, orchestrated in some parts by Hillary Clinton, and in other parts by Barack Obama, first to defeat Trump’s candidacy, and then to hobble his presidency.
“I was hopeful that Trump would be able to expose the inculpating communications among the key players a hoax; but for the most part that did not happen. Now under the supervision of DNI Gabard, it is finally occurring.”
Recalling Roger Kimball’s piece in The Spectator, that I referenced in an earlier edition, he asked, “Now what?” Wondering if the principal actors in the long-running attempted coup against Trump will be held to account? He cited Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Brennan, James Comey, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, James Clapper, Sally Yates and Samantha Power
Now what? That’s my question, too. There needs to be accountability, even though in the end, President Trump stood strong in his first term, and defeated efforts to keep him from returning to the White House again in 2024.
HOWEVER, Rasmussen Reports’ survey showed just 28 percent of voters believe it’s likely that officials involved in this scandal will be criminally prosecuted.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
