Democrats, Still Mired in Defeat, Slam Trump While Trying to Be Like Him

Commentary

For those not paying attention, and I understand why, Democrats held their summer meeting, looking for fresh ideas going into 2026, in Minneapolis, home of a loser, Tim Walz.

WALZ

Having forgotten that it was his party’s clinging to DEI that was one of the reasons Harris-Walz lost, Walz said, “We are proud of the diversity in this country.  We’re not shying away from diversity as a strength and equity as a goal and inclusion being the air we breathe.”

With an urging to be strong, “challenging each other,” while talking about the difficulty in winning a House or Senate seat, he launched into an anti-Trump and Trump supporters rant, arms flailing, saying, “Think how easy it would be to be a damn Republican. Oh, what should I wear today? This stupid freaking hat.

“What should I say today? I don’t know. Just make sure it’s cruel.

“Who do we listen to? That guy.  Oh, the felon in the White House.”

SAWMICK

While that was just reminiscent of Walz’s 2024 campaign, the appearance of Lindy Sowmick, treasurer of Minnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, and a self-described “Indigenous queer woman,” added to the embarrassment with her “land acknowledgement,” honoring the Dakota Oyate as the original stewards of the Minneapolis land for thousands of years before colonization.

She spoke of broken treaties and promises, adding “In many ways we still live in a system built to suppress indigenous peoples’ culture and spiritual history.”

That stirred long-time Dem strategist James Carville, who commented from his Politics War Room podcast, lamenting that the party did not seem to have learned from recent defeats.

CARVILLE

Lady, you’re right,” Carville said, “but why are you bringing this up in an election?  This is an election, and the DNC is not the place to discuss it. Understand this, the DNC does not exist to right wrongs.  It doesn’t exist to make people feel good – just get that through your head – to win elections.

“Please stop this. In the name of a just, merciful God,” Carville pleaded.

Adding to the embarrassment of the meeting, as speaker from the left-wing Vera Institute of Justice told the gathering to continue defending illegal immigrants against Trump’s deportations.  This, despite Trump having the majority of Americans, including Democrats supporting his action.

RAHMAN

Where does Trump go? Migrant crime, carjackings, the really lurid, awful stuff that is a crazy, crazy visual.  Don’t take the bait,” said Insha Rahman, stating that most Americans are more worried about mental health issues and homelessness.

Not true.  A recent AP/NORC poll revealed that 81 percent of Americans, including 62 percent of Democrats, cited crime as a major problem.  Yet we see Democrat mayors and governors refusing to ask the president for help. Simply because it’s Donald Trump.

FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT

Then there’s the fight song.  Trump always talks about fighting for something, and recall that he was yelling “fight, fight, fight” after the Secret Service got him up and on his feet after nearly being assassinated in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“I’m no longer worried about the midterms.  Or the next presidential election, or the one after that,” wrote Natalie Sanduval in the Daily Caller after hearing the lyrics to the Dem’s ‘fight song:’”

“D-E-M-S, we rise

Stronger together – blue skies!

Onward, Democrats – we shine blue!”

As if that wasn’t embarrassing enough, a number of Democrats again showed their indifference to religion and prayer. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said, “Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now.

STEELE

California Governor Gavin Newsom, former White House press secretary Jen Psaki and MSNBC political analyst Michael Steele put down the thought of praying, too.

“The thoughts and prayers. I’m so beyond that nonsense — the lie of that.” – Michael Steele

“Prayer is not freaking enough. Prayers do not end school shootings. Prayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayers do not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers.” – Jen Psaki

Of course, gun control was on their minds.

A thousand miles to the east, New York Attorney General Letitia James was suffering an embarrassment when an appellate court reversed the ridiculous $450 million fine she supported President Trump pay.

JAMES

After six years, “everything about the case had become an embarrassment and a humiliation for AG James,” wrote Manhattan Contrarian blogger Francis Menton.

Writing of comments made by Judge Friedman, who spoke of James promising to “(mis)use the powers of the office to take down a political adversary,” Menton added, “What an embarrassment,” referring not about James alone, but New York’s political and legal establishment as well.

While Democrats are often the subject of embarrassment, humiliation rolls off their backs like water off a duck’s back.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
