Arizona’s Political Leaders Continue to Disappoint and Embarrass

Commentary

We finally have a president, a Republican president, who is doing what presidents of both parties in recent history failed to do, putting an end to Iranian terror.

“For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted ‘Death to America’ and waged and unending campaign of bloodshed and mass murder, targeting the United States, our troops and innocent people in many countries,” said President Trump in announcing a massive strategy to bring Iran’s despicable leadership to their knees.

Yet my two Democrat Senators Kelly and Galego again bring embarrassment to Arizona, failing to support our party and our country.

Gallego

After boycotting the State of the Union Address just days earlier, Gallego says the president has “illegally dragged” us into war without congressional authorization, while saying the president is “recklessly” sending our troops into battle.

Gallego ignorance

“President Trump can rely on his predecessors, including Presidents Clinton, Obama, and Biden for his authority to carry out these attacks,” notes law professor Jonathan Turley.

About Gallego’s statement that President Trump promised “no more forever wars.”  Forever?  We’ve been in a 47-year war with Iran, and it’s Trump who will end it.

Reckless?  Hardly

My administration has taken every possible step to minimize the risk to U.S. personnel in the region,” said Trump, adding, “Even so, and I do not make this statement lightly, the Iranian regime seeks to kill. The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost and we may have casualties. That often happens in war. But we’re doing this, not for now. We’re doing this for the future, and it is a noble mission.

“We pray for every service member as they selflessly risk their lives.”

About that boycott

Gallego joined the likes of Adam Schiff and Ed Markey at the People’s State of the Union, an outdoor gathering of a hundred or so Democrats, hosted by the pathetic black commentator Joy Reid.

Gallego claimed that while the president was telling us how great the country is, “what is happening right now is that Donald Trump and Republicans made this country sicker, poorer, and less secure,” referring to his policies of immigration, taxes and security.”  Nobody buys that.

“What is true, what is happening right now, is that Donald Trump and Republicans made this country sicker, poorer, and less secure,” Gallego falsely claimed.

When a Trump supporter booed Reid from the crowd when she introduced a speaker, she said “F**k y’all … you’re not welcome here.”

Then there was Kelly

Senator Kelly’s disdain for the president is obvious.  While criticized for his social media instruction to servicemen and women to ignore orders, he now casts doubt on the president’s strategy in Iran.

Kelly

“The Iranian people deserve freedom.  They deserve the right to choose their own leaders.  So, what’s the plan … I don’t think Donald Trump knows,” said Kelly.

Had he listened to the president, he would have heard him say:

“To the great proud people of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is at hand. When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations.

“For many years, you have asked for America’s help. But you never got it. No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight. Now you have a president who is giving you what you want. So, let’s see how you respond. America is backing you with overwhelming strength and devastating force.

Trump

“Now is the time to seize control of your destiny, and to unleash the prosperous and glorious future that is close within your reach. This is the moment for action. Do not let it pass.

“To the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, the armed forces and all of the police, I say tonight that you must lay down your weapons and have complete immunity. Or in the alternative, face certain death. So, lay down your arms. You will be treated fairly with total immunity, or you will face certain death.

Gallego, Kelly not alone

Coons

“President Trump’s military campaign against Iran and call for regime change are the beginning of a reckless new war of choice with no clear strategy and no clear endpoint,” said Biden’s water-carrier Senator Coons, said “this is not how a democracy goes to war.” What?

Unexpected support

Trump’s former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, hailed the Iran operation as a moment of historic consequence, calling it both “history-defining” and “legacy-defining” for President Donald Trump and his administration.

May God bless the military service members who sacrificed their lives in the U.S. endeavor to free Iranians.
