Commentary
While most voters are naturally concerned with the price of gas at the pump, those who are politically minded worry about how it might affect GOP support in the midterms.
During a recent gaggle with reporters, President Trump repeatedly insisted that gas prices will come down after the negotiations with Iran. He smoothly shifted the discussion to two of his efforts to benefit families and chided the media for not writing about them. “We should win just with those savings,” he noted.
Drug Affordability
Because they haven’t, few Americans are aware of Trump’s successful negotiations with 17 pharmaceutical companies to lower the cost of prescription drugs that paved the way to enable Americans to purchase directly from manufacturers at discounted rates.
I decided to visit the site – TrumpRx – to see if I could get one of my high-priced drugs at discount. With a few clicks, I was looking at a list of medications by AstraZeneca and saw that my $377.82 prescription for 30 tablets could be ordered for just $35.00. The site provided the numbers my Doc will need to place the order for me.
Trump was able to get most-favored-nation consideration covering an estimated 86 percent of the U.S. branded market, providing savings for individuals with certainly more drugs than I take.
Trump Accounts
Every American child born after January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2028, is eligible for an initial deposit of $1,000 in a Trump Account thanks to that One Big Beautiful Bill. I wonder how many Americans know about this. The leftist media doesn’t want you to know about anything Trump.
The Council on Economic Advisors estimates that under a scenario of average returns on the U. S. stock market, a Trump Account balance for a baby born in 2026 could be: $303,800 by age 18 and $1,091,000 by age 28 if maximum contributions are made.
Just $25 contributed to a child who has received an initial $1,000 Trump Account could results in a return of $12,000 to $13,000 by age 18. And, if no contributions are made, a child would have $5,800 by age 18 and $18,100 by age 28.
Not to be Forgotten
Middle-class families are getting an outsized share of the tax cuts from President Trump’s working families tax cut, according to an analysis by the Tax Policy Center, a left-leaning think tank.
“Even left-leaning academics cannot deny the facts: President Trump and Republicans delivered for the working families of America. Moms and dads, waitresses, line workers, welders, cops, and seniors will all see bigger paychecks thanks to Republicans’ working families tax cuts. Despite Democrat lies, the fact is that President Trump made the tax code fairer and more beneficial for working class Americans while placing a greater share of the tax burden on the wealthy,” said Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith.
Like the benefits of TrumpRx and TrumpAccounts, some of the highlights of the “big beautiful bill” go unreported by the anti-Trump media.
In addition to the Trump Account for newborn, the federal Child Tax Credit of $2,200 per child remains.
And new temporary deductions allow taxpayers to deduct interest on car loans for new U.S.-assembled vehicles (up to $10,000 per year) purchased after 2024, with income phaseouts and expiration at the end of 2028.
Employees in traditionally tipped jobs, as specified by the U.S. Treasury and IRS, can exclude up to $25,000 in tips in federal income tax through 2028, subject to income limits and specific eligibility requirements.
Overtime pay up to $12,500 (or $25,000 for joint filers) can be deducted in the same period, again with income phaseouts.
Democrats like to ask voters if they are better off under Trump than Biden, knowing their media friends aren’t crediting Trump with his new benefit offerings and regulation deductions. I believe Trump and Republican candidates will shine a light on the administration’s achievements as the midterms near.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
