Commentary
Ten years ago, the Louisville Courier Journal shocked Kentuckians when they published a list of 4,000 “deadbeat parents,” who were delinquent in paying child support. It got a lot of attention. Even by those who weren’t on the list.
That recollection was the nexus for my thought in producing this list of those who are taking our country down a path to ruin. Of course, it would be impossible to include all of the guilty swamp dwellers, so I am beginning with the names of those who are seemingly taking pride in their actions.
Should you believe that “enemy” is too strong of a word to describe the people on my list, Merriam-Webster defines “enemy” as “one that is antagonistic to another.”
Just as President Trump singled out the media as the enemy of the people, citing the fact that “they can’t stand his administration has done more than virtually any other administration in its first two years.”
In addition to elected officials and regulation-crazed bureaucrats on this initial list, I have included those in the media (in italics), who are aiding and abetting by intentionally not covering news negative to the Biden administration, like the thousands of illegals wading across the Rio Grande River in Del Rio, Texas.
Leading the list is General Austin, who oversaw the badly executed Afghan withdrawal. Austin supports the teaching of critical race theory in our military academies, and has begun an investigation to uncover service men and women who could be considered extremists.
When questioned during a Congressional testimony, however, Austin was unable to define what represented extremist behavior.
As you scroll down my enemies list, you will see the name Merrick Garland, Biden’s attorney general. On October 4, 2021, he issued a directive to the FBI and U. S. attorney’s office to meet to discuss increasing harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence against school board members, teachers and workers in public schools.
He wants to stop parents and grandparents from demonstrating their right of free speech on matters of curriculums being taught in schools, from critical race theory to discussions of gender transformation. Almost immediately, the media referred to them as domestic terrorists.
Garland, you will recall, was the man Democrats wanted on the Supreme Court. Talk about dodging a bullet.
Last on the list is Janet Yellen, who has defended a Biden administration proposal that would require banks to report to the IRS on transactions over $600, one of many regulations included in the 2,000-plus-page human infrastructure bill.
As I finished writing this blog, I noticed a letter-to-the-editor of the Arizona Republic that applies to my thinking.
Under a heading, “Biden and his handlers want to destroy the United States,” Andy McKelvey of Phoenix writes, “How high are you going to let prices and taxes rise while you sit back and blame the Republicans for what is Biden and his handlers’ responsibility.”
He went on to mention the soaring gas prices before concluding, “Biden, his handlers and the socialist left want to destroy this country.”
