The Left Has a New Target in Elon Musk

Commentary

The leftist media have found a new target in Elon Musk and they’re making fools of themselves just as they did when Donald Trump was the primary target.

Their latest “scoop” was their fabricated (fake news) story of a conflict between Musk and Secretary of State Marco Rubio that supposedly surfaced during a cabinet meeting.

MUSK AND RUBIO IN DISCUSSION

Trump made it clear that Musk would be making recommendations, but it was up the White House or the cabinet secretaries to the make decisions on cutting.

That wasn’t sufficient enough for a reporter who was supposed to be covering the visit by the head of FIFA, who was in the Oval Office to unveil the World Cup trophy.  He noted that there were “clashes” between Musk and Rubio.”

“No clash, I was there,” Trump responded, adding, “You’re just a troublemaker,” before scolding the reporter who was supposed to be there to ask questions about the World Cup. “Who are you with?”  Hearing “NBC,” Trump shot back, “no wonder, that’s enough.”

It didn’t take long for the put down to get back to 30 Rock, and it didn’t stop Kristen Welker from going down that road of Meet the Press Sunday during her interview with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, asking, “Who is in charge at your agency – you or Elon Musk?”

“Musk is a partner,” Lutnick appropriately responded. “You have the greatest businessman and greatest technologist in the world as my partner.  You got to ask me, what do I think?” RedState’s Nick Arama commented how Lutnick was “so good at politely smacking it down with a happy smile.”

Of course, the leftist New York TimesJonathan Swan and Maggie Haberman saw the discussion between Musk and Rubio as their entrée to zero in on target Musk, referring to the “explosive” meeting and a “simmering anger at the billionaire’s unchecked power.”

It didn’t stop there with that March 7, piece.  The following day, the Times published an article on the “Rage Against Elon Musk Turns Tesla Into a Target.” Then, on March 9, Times opinion columnist Ezra Klein offered, “There Is a Liberal Answer to the Trump-Musk Wrecking Ball,” a lengthy recommendation of how Democrats can succeed at resistance with a plan of their own.

Good luck with that.  Who is the Democrat dynamo able to make that happen? They don’t even have a leader.

I tend to believe the commentary of John Kass of JohnKassNews, who writes in “Democrats Locked in Their Own Hell,” that he views the Democrat message as pure hatred for anything pro-American and anything that could be considered pro-President Trump.

“They’re feral creatures now, lonely, isolated, frightened without leadership, desperate for relevance, without any cogent message, terrified at what’s to become of them,” write Kass.

James Carville has counseled Democrats to simply “roll over and play dead,” until the Trump administration collapses beneath its own weight.” Carville says Trump hates America.

But there’s more.  The Times provided space on March 9, for a guest essay by Mihir A. Desai, a professor at the Harvard Business School, who believes, “Musk’s Cultish Business Empire May Be Starting to Crack,” a speculative piece in which he compares Musk with a string of individuals he refers to as “true business titans.”

In my lead paragraph, I referred to Musk as the left’s new target.  Not that Trump is no longer a target, but Musk is a juicy target that the media just cannot ignore.  So, I need to remind you again of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. Specifically, Rule 12: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

I have often referred to the laziness of the leftist media, which causes me to ask why reporters are not investigating those examples of waste and fraud uncovered by Musk’s DOGE team?  And why are they now making a big deal out of some mistakes when, if they were on top of things, they would recall that Musk, in February, said there would be mistakes and “we will quickly fix them.”

Refreshingly, The Hill published an opinion piece by Liberty Vittert, a professor of data science at Washington University in St, Louis, in which she reports that she has heard it all about DOGE, positive and negative.  “I believe DOGE is doing important work, because it goes to the ethos of America.

“For too long, we have let our tax dollars be funneled to embarrassing and anti-American causes,” she says.  “It’s the principle of the thing.  Why 76 percent of Americans stand behind what DOGE is doing.”

We cannot allow ourselves to go weak-kneed when the left surfaces convenient testimonial by disgruntled bureaucrats.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
