If you thought it would be different after Donald Trump won in 2024 … the attacks on every spoken word and move he makes … by now you must recognize that you were wrong, so wrong. Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) lives.
Trump himself hasn’t changed. He’s open to questions from the press all day long and sometimes into the evening, during executive order signings, during visits by dignitaries, or during special recognition ceremonies. And it doesn’t matter if he’s in the White House, Mar-a-Lago, on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews or on Air Force One, he makes news.
Still, a handful of legislators from the Senate and House, members of the media, and late-night talk show comics who are critical not only of Trump, but Elon Musk and DOGE.
They’re frantically looking for answers to reviving the Democrat Party that is leaderless, and without control over any branch of government.
At the risk of appearing to believe veteran Democrat political strategist James Carville’s advice is sound, I want to assure you I do not, however, I do believe Democrats should take his advice “to roll over and play dead.” He says Democrats need to step back and let President Trump and the Republicans fail, claiming their party’s actions will “crumble” beneath the weight of their contradictions.
Carville, who wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post in which he said, “America, it will all be okay. Ms. Harris will be elected President of the United States. Of this I am certain.” Carville recently attacked ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith for dipping his toes into political punditry. He told Smith to stop “running your f***ing mouth off about politics,” because Smith doesn’t know “his a** from a hole in the ground.”
I could hardly contain myself when I saw that two radical progressive leftists, New York’s Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez and Vermont’s Bernie Sanders had teamed up to “Fight Oligarchy.” The irony of it. They were behind the big-spending actions of former President Biden.
AOC’s answer is that Democrats need to “fight harder.” She seemingly believes Trump’s shouting of “fight, fight, fight” as he was led bleeding off the stage after the first assassination attempt is what won it for him. No doubt that that helped Trump win, but it will take more than they’re yelling “fight harder”
She was critical of Democrat Senator Fetterman for voting to approve the Republican continuing resolution to avoid a government shutdown, to which he responded, “Fight harder – a stunt that would have harmed millions and plunged us into chaos. We kept the government open. Deal with it.
“I hope you can relay how little I care about her views on this,” he told NewsNation.
Looking back, I recall commenting on how the centrist Biden had been taken over by the party’s radical progressives. Biden was persuaded by Sanders to allow six task forces, made up of Biden and Sanders people, to develop the party’s platform ahead of the Democrat convention. Included were task forces on climate change, criminal justice reform, the economy, education, health care and immigration.
Notable was the joint task force on climate change, which was co-chaired by Occasion-Cortez, who had been championing the Green New Deal, which led to the big-spending legislation falsely referred to as an anti-inflation bill. I believe it marked the beginning of the end for the Biden administration.
Biden said he was “deeply grateful to Senator Sanders for working together to unite our party, and deliver real, lasting change for generations to come.” We now know that it was a pipe dream.
I wonder how many of the 11,000 people who reportedly attended at the “Fighting Oligarchy” tour stop on the Arizona State University campus are willing to buy into their message.
In fact, recalling how students recently interviewed on spring break were not able to name the first president or the location of Ukraine, I suspect if asked the meaning of oligarchy, they wouldn’t be able to define it.
Greg Gutfeld, co-host of “The Five” on Fox, had an excellent explanation: “It means government by the few. So, the only way an oligarchy can exist is if it’s nontransparent. But what is the most transparent government in history?” he asked without naming the current Trump administration before answering, “The one that sows you where your money is being spent. The one that releases files on assassinations. The one that answers every single question you ask them. The one that tweets or posts every single action and tells you ahead of time what they’re going to do. If Trump, the administration, is an oligarchy, it’s the worst one ever.
“So where do you find real oligarchies? There are about three or four places. Unions. They’re oligarchies. They maintain an illusion of democracy and collectivism, but it’s just elites at the top who run and maintain total control because that a survival.
“What’s the trademark of an oligarchy. Secrecy”
Sanders is obviously aware of the polling on the Democrat Party as he is telling people to get engaged into the political process and run as independents, not the Democrat Party. Interestingly, the new chairman of the DNC declined to comment on Sanders’ suggestion.
A CNN poll found that 52 percent of Democrat believed that their leaders wee steering the party in the wrong direction, as the party’s favorability rating was just 29 percent.
President Trump will continue to keep the promises of his campaign, while Democrats holding townhalls must answer why they oppose DOGE, deportation of all illegals, and denying men to compete in women’s sports.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
