Will Comey and Brennan Be Held Accountable? One Can Only Hope

Commentary

Since 2012, I have written on accountability a dozen times, expressing my disappointment that individuals were not held accountable, from the Benghazi incident, Russian collusion and the fake dossier to the Afghan withdrawal.

“At Last: John Brennan and James Comey Under Criminal Investigation for Russiagate; ‘The beginning of the end’ just took new meaning.” – Matt Taibbi, Racket

You can imagine how I felt when I read that those two reprobates will finally be investigated for potential wrongdoing relating to the fabricated story of Russian collusion and the Steele dossier.

Looking Back, I Wrote

We know who they are, for the most part, but it’s time those shady members of the Deep State are officially named and called to receive punishment, indictments for criminal activity.

We’re learning now that our intelligence agencies were aware of Hillary Clinton’s approved campaign to initiate a scandal against Donald Trump, and that then CIA Director John Brennan briefed President Obama and others, discovered in his handwritten notes.”

Later, I wrote, “we’re still waiting for accountability of the Obama-Biden Deep Staters – Comey, McCabe, Yates, Strzok, Page (Lisa), Brennan, Clapper and Rice – who were tasked in that infamous January 5, 2017, meeting to allege that Donald Trump was involved in a treasonous plot to collude with Russia.

On February 2, 2021, I wrote about the “elusiveness of accountability.”  I’m not naïve. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe Hillary Clinton would be sent to prison, Comey, McCabe, Brennan, and the others, either.  I simply want their illicit activities revealed, that they be forbidden any future government position or an ability to lobby Congress.  Those with law degrees should lose their license to practice law.

First things first

Serving as acting director of the FBI after the firing of James Comey, Andy McCabe was fired in March of 2018 after the DOJ’s IG found his testimony lacked candor during questioning on leaked material to a newspaper.

Following McCabe’s appearance before the Senate panel, U.S. Attorney Brett Tolman called McCabe’s testimony “a disaster,” referring to “inconsistencies, lies and deception.”

“If you knew then what you know now would you have signed the FISA warrant against Carter Page?” Sen. Lindsay Graham asked.  “No sir,” McCabe answered, it was “completely devoid of the truth.”

However, McCabe was never charged, and the DOJ declined to prosecute him.

In October 2021, in a settlement following his 2019 lawsuit, he was allowed to receive compensation from 2018 and get his pension restored

No accountability.

Hillary Clinton, who was not held accountable for the four deaths of Americans in the Benghazi incident, essentially escaped accountability in the Russian Steele dossier scandal, as the Federal Election Commission fined her campaign just $8,000 and the DNC $105,000 for not disclosing the money spent on the dossier, which she disclosed was for “legal advice and services.”

The Clinton campaign and the DNC paid more than $1 million to the law firm Perkins Coie, which engaged Fusion GPS, to dig up dirt on Trump.

No accountability.

Next up: Comey and Brennan

Both Comey and Brennan have histories of inconsistent testimony on the Steele dossier and the issuance of fabricated FISA warrants from 2016 to 2023 and are now reportedly under criminal investigation for potential wrongdoing regarding the Steele dossier.

Brennan was behind the letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials describing the Hunter Biden laptop scandal as Russian disinformation that was timed to help Joe Biden’s campaign.

Details of their extensive wrongdoing requires more space than I can devote to this edition, but I am sure that if the DOJ decides to press forward with the investigation, we will soon be hearing more Russia, Russia, Russia lies.

Reportedly, if they decide to proceed with an indictment, it will go to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro.  Won’t that be interesting, with her history of no-nonsense prosecutions.

Accountability?  One can hope.

Too good to hold

Bill Nye, “The Science Guy,” appearing on CNN with host Dana Bash, argued that one of the main ways to prevent the increasing frequency of “once in 100-year” storms is to ban fossil fuels, and stop burning fossil fuels.

May God continue to bless the United States of America.
